Moberly is an unincorporated community located in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 548. Moberly is named after General John A. Moberly, who fought in the Mexican-American War and won a Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroism. The town was founded in 1857 by citizens of nearby St. Louis as a station on the Union Pacific Railroad. The first post office was established in 1858, and the name changed to Moberly in 1861 when it became part of Jackson County. The first store opened in 1865 and remained open until 1907. According to U.S. Census Bureau data, the population of Moberly increased from 304 at the 2000 census to 548 at the 2010 census; this growth reflects both its location withinJackson County and its increasing size as a result of recent annexations by other counties into Jackson County (such as Saint Joseph). Moberly has two churches: First Baptist Church and Methodist Episcopal Church which are both located on Main Street near High School. There is also a small park with playgrounds and basketball court located off Sixth Street east of Main Street which served as a village green until it was replaced by an open air amphitheater in 2003 due to construction projects that took place around that time along Sixth Street which involved demolition/landscapingof many homes adjacent to it including many built between 1860-1870 according to historical records now extant within Moberly Village Green Park

The population reached over 800 residents by 2000; however, recent declines have led to a low population density today (around 150 people per square mile). Moberly is located at 38°13’N / 90°42’W (38˚13'N / 90˚42'). It has a total area of 362 acres (147 hectares), making it one of Missouri's smallest towns measured on an individual square kilometer basis. Despite its small size, Moberly has rich history that can be seen across its streets and buildings alike: many of which date back more than 100 years!
Moberly is a city in Clay County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5,651 at the 2010 census. The name of the city may be derived from Moberly Creek which flows through it. Moberly was founded in 1825 by Simon Moberly and his wife Sarah. It became a town on April 6, 1830, when it was platted as part of the Platte River Township system. The first post office in Moberly was established on October 12, 1830. In 1836, the town had a population of 200 and an academy; but by 1840 its population had grown to 1,000 and it became a village on December 15 of that year. OnFebruary 11th (1841), General Nathaniel Lyon discovered gold near Moberly and named the site "Goulburn". This led to increased development around Goulburn until after the US Civil War when most mining operations stopped as gold prices plummeted leading to heavy loss for many companies involved. The first school inMoberly opened in 1827 with one teacher and seven students under Mr. John Atherton who also built what is now North High School there in 1828-29; but later that year he closed it down due to lack of enrollment so that only boys could attend which disqualified him from running for office himself! There were no public schools open until after statehood; however private schools did open up throughout this time including Crossroads Academy (later renamed Hennepin Technical College) where Abraham Lincoln learned arithmetic and other important skills while attending during his early career days as a lawyer In 1865 Gouverneur Fenton moved his family from Illinois into Clay County and founded Fenton's Chapel which served as community center until 1967 when it burned down along with much else associated with that period in local history
