Moberly, Missouri is a small town located in the United States of America. The population was 10,844 at the 2010 census. Moberly is part of Saline County and is bordered by Randolph County to the north and east, Union Township to the south and west, and Monterey Township to the northwest. Moberly was founded in 1836 by Capt. John Pemberton. The original site of Moberly was on a hill overlooking Randolph County that was later purchased by Daniel Boone who built his home there. In 1847, Moberly became property of the University of Missouri at Columbia which moved there from Ann Arbor in 1849. In 1870, it became part of Kansas City when that state was formed from Michigan Territory. The first post office in Moberly was established in 1839, but it closed its doors within three years because no mail could be delivered due to Indian hostilities near Fort Snelling. It reopened on October 1st 1840 under the name Caldwellsville after Major General David Caldwell who had been ordered to protect settlers living around Cahokia mound (now known as Independence Hill). In 1861, during the American Civil War, Confederate troops under Brigadier General James Hutton burned down two buildings in what is now downtown Moberly while they were raiding Union supply trains traveling through town limits. This event served as a rallying cry for pro-Confederate sentiment throughout much of central Saline County until well into Reconstruction Era times. As an agricultural center with a wide variety of crops grown including cornmeal (maize), flour (wheat), cottonseed oil (canola), potatoes/potatoes chipotle oatmeal mix (chicken or beef stroganoff style gravy), cheese balls/popcorn etc., MoberLY experienced prosperity throughout most of this time period despite occasional droughts and depressions brought about by changes within regional markets or extenuating circumstances such as floods or strikes at local mills etc.. A number of businesses have been located here over time including: Golda Meir's grocery store from 1906-1912; First National Bank from 1907-1920; Joesph Smeaton's Hardware Store from 1912-1920; Wacoal & Sons rubber plant from 1920-1925; Armour Rubber Company store from 1925-1929; Weldon Chevrolet dealership since 1929; current KFC restaurant opened in 1950 Finally current KOCH gas station open in 1957

Moberly is a small town in modern-day Missouri, United States. The community was founded by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1836 and named for General James Moberly, who had fought in the Mexican War. In 1861, during the American Civil War, Moberly sided with the Confederacy and was burned to the ground. The rebuilt community began to grow soon after, and by 1870 it had reached its present size. The town has since become an important agricultural center due to its fertile soil and access to water resources. It is also home to a number of smaller businesses and schools. Moberly's history goes back before 1836 when Scots-Irish immigrants came here from County Clare, Ireland. For many years they did most of their work on land owned by settlers in what is now northwest Missouri. In 1868 they organized themselves into a trade association known as the "Scotchmen's Benevolent Society." From that time until World War II (1939 - 1945), Moberly was one of only a handful of U.S. towns whose residents supported their country during that conflict. In 1862 Union troops burned down part of Moberly after finding out it had sided with the Confederacy instead of pledging allegiance to Union President Abraham Lincoln; rebuilding started quickly and today Moberly remains one of the most prosperous communities in Northwest Missouri thanks largely to its fertile soil and access to water resources
Moberly, Missouri was founded in 1837 by John Moberly and wife Catharine. The town was named after the largest of the three mounds near the present-day town. John Moberly is said to have discovered the mounds while working on a farm near present-day Springfield, Illinois.
