One of the earliest types of EPDs was a tourniquet device made from an old belt buckle. This type of EPD consisted of two piece strap with a cloth or felt band around one end and a metal spike on the other end. When used, this type of EPD prevented face blindness by restrictingocular motion and caused less damage to surrounding tissues when used correctly. One common type of EPD utilized today is the beanie which is made from either cloth, plastic or leather straps that are wrapped around your head like a turban. It can be worn in three different ways- as a hanging tag on your neck, as part of an overall security system or as part of a shooting uniform. These devices help reduce vision loss because they filter out light while you shoot and also help keep you warm during cold weather conditions. The town of Maryville was founded in 1831 by General James Fenton. The community grew rapidly and soon had a population of over 500 people. By 1855, the town had a school, churches, and two stores. In 1857, the town passed an ordinance that allowed for liquor sales. In 1861, Maryville became the capital of Kansas Territory. The following year, the city hosted the first territorial election in which all citizens were given voting rights. On November 8th, 1861, Maryville voted to become a state of Missouri. The new state included many rural communities located within Kansas Territory who did not have voting rights until after Missouri became a state in 1865.
