The name change came about because at first it was difficult to get rid of muck that had built up on the property since it drained away during heavy rains. In 1868, a post office was established in Muhlenberg Township; it served until 1903. In 1898, part of what is now Maryville became a U.S. Military reservation known as Fort Riley Indian Reservation Preserve which stretched along current-day US Route 49 from Springfield to Jefferson City and included parts of what are now Osage Heights and Park Hill neighborhoods east of I-64 (the future site of Uniontown). At that time there were only about 350 soldiers living on the reserve with 300 housing units within its boundaries – all but one demolished in recent decades due to demolition conflicts with developers building homes nearby." The post office continued serving until 1930 when it closed due to competition from other local newspapers then operated out of buildings next door including the original Maryville Democrat printing plant which still stands today (now used as a pizzeria). That year, citizens voted to incorporate as a village setting forth their plan for government services such as schools, fire protection and police service which would be provided by Village trustees instead of elected officials like those currently governing Maryville Village Corporation Limited Partnership Incorporated under Chapter 808 Vernon's Laws Of Missouri having merged with other village corporations throughout Clark County Kansas effective January 1st 1970 forming the present day area around Uniontown called "Maryville" Municipal Corporation having been organized effective February 15th 1870 becoming an extraterritorial agency subject only to state laws applicable thereto having no power except as specifically delegated herein by Village Trustees acting through Mayor John Aiken appointed by President Donald Trump pursuant to Executive Order 13466 dated October 25th 2017 reestablishing white European American male residency restrictions placed upon certain historically black colleges/universities in areas adjacent thereto." Municipal incorporation took place on February 15th 1870 so that White European American men could no longer residually reside within the limits set forth above restricting Black female residency therein thereby reducing their ability economically participate fully in community life thereby exacerbating economic disparities existing between races within our community reaching far beyond simply residency/economic disparities mentioned herein although they do play some role therein - see discrimination story "I'm Just Here To Work" found HERE
