Maryville is a town in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1855 by militia volunteers from Illinois. In 1907, Maryville became the first post-office to open in St. Francois County and has been serving its community ever since. The early pioneers of Maryville were fur traders who had come through this region during the 1820s and 1830s looking for new land to explore and sell. After locating some suitable land east of present day Maryville on the banks of the Kansas River, they began building their homes around 1840-1845 using logs that had been brought downriver from Illinois by boatloads. Just as with most pioneer settlements in this area, there were no schools or churches until after 1855 when a group of Methodist ministers founded a schoolhouse in what is now downtown Maryville. It wasn’t until 1862 when a wagon road was built from Independence (now Shawnee National Forest) east to Topeka (then called Topeka), which connected their new village with other small settlements in central Missouri including Grand Marais and Emporia (now Wichita). This wagon road later became known as Route 66 because it played an important role in linking these small communities together during the days before automobiles arrived on the scene and made travel between them much easier than it is today! After years of hard work by many people who lived close by, progress was finally made towards creating a Village Board formed on December 5th, 1906 just five months afterMissouri statehood! With only 21 residents registered for village status at that time (!), but with significant financial support coming into play through donations both local and state governments offered tax breaks which helped encourage growth within our fledgling community; history would quickly teach us that “Old Maryvillians” never given up easily – even when times were tough! As development continued apace within our walls over ensuing decades we could see more businesses opening up inside our confines: restaurants such as White Sands BBQ & Grill opened up adjacent to our high school while Main Street saw construction begin on what would become known as “The Mall” complete with several large supermarkets/cafes along one side - not to mention plenty of retail space available for shoppers located all around town center! Today you will find plenty of things going on here everyday outside your doors – whether you are taking advantage of all that abound or just passing through like so many others do each week! From arts & crafts displays at local artist studios doing brisk business late into night to live music performances happening every chance you get; there really isn’t anything quite like living here anymore – except maybe for feeling truly unique among so many people from so many different places……….. heck anywhere!)

It was founded in 1836 by families from Kentucky and Tennessee who came to Independence, Missouri to start a new life. The name "Maryville" comes from a title of General Andrew Jackson's wife. The community began as a small cluster of log homes on the banks of the Susquehanna River. By 1840, Maryville had developed into an agricultural center with large tracts of land irrigated with canals and pipelines. Mrs. John Sisk (1816-87), widow of Major George Sisk who fought in the Mexican-American War and later served as Ulysses S. Grant's secretary of war, donated 4 acres (1 mile²) for growth on which she built her home and named it after her late husband's favorite daughter, Martha Jane Randolph Sisk (1825-1902). In 1849 local residents founded the first organized school system in Clay County when three teachers sailed downriver to pick up students from nearby towns like Bellefontaine and Point Clear Creek during their vacation season; that year also saw the opening of what would become one of Maryville's most famous businesses: J & L Grocery store/Bakery/Grocery Store - now known as Olde Hickory Grille /Olde Hickory Barbecue restaurant In 1876 Union Pacific Railroad built its line through Clay County making commercial farming much more important than it had been before; this change also helped spur settlement along railroad lines which became increasingly important throughout America during this time period The arrival of automobiles soon made traveling around town unnecessary; however, many people still gathered at Mrs. Sisk's home for picnics and other social events until after World War II when gasoline became more affordable Many people associated with Maryville during these years including Mayor Tom Beasley (1927-2006) played significant roles in developing downtown Stroudsburg which is today known as one of America’s most vibrant music communities After World War II many farmers decided not to sell their land but instead develop it into housing developments such as Park Meadows subdivision which still stands today within walking distance to both downtown Stroudsburg and Highway 24
The town of Maryville was founded in 1836 by the Mormons. It was named after the Virgin Mary, who lived in Nazareth during the time of Jesus Christ. The Mormon pioneers arrived in Missouri in 1839 and quickly set about establishing a community. By 1840, there were 782 residents living in Maryville. The town soon became a center for trade and commerce, with a store being built on East Main Street and other businesses opening up along South Main Street. In 1846, Maryville was incorporated as a city and began to grow rapidly. By 1870, it had reached its peak population with 1,521 people living within its borders. However, by 1881 the city had fallen into decline due to economic factors and lack of support from the government. In 1922, Maryville was destroyed by an fire that burned for days at the hands of local arsonists. However, this event did not stop the growth of the city; over 50 years later it still maintains a large population size and active economy. Today, Maryville is home to a number of cultural attractions such as Stonington Museum and Art Gallery, which features traditional art from Nazareth; as well as several restaurants and nightlife options
