Maryville is a small town in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 931 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Saint Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was organized on April 1, 1837 and named for Mary Hill, sister of Gov. Joseph Boggs. The first post office in Maryville was established on April 1, 1837 by John Cavanagh and James Aiken. The name of the town originated from Mary Hill, sister of Governor Joseph Boggs who had been elected as a Democrat to the Missouri House of Representatives in 1836 and served two terms beginning in 1839 until he resigned to run for Governor in 1840 because of term limits set by the state legislature. The first store built in town was called "Aiken's Store" and it operated from 1837-1841 when it was located on Main Street between First Avenue and Broadway. In 1840 John Cavanagh moved his store to what is now Fourth Street between Life Avenue and Elmwood Boulevard where it continued to operate until 1865 when it burned down due to an overloading gunpowder barrel stored there by its previous owner Daniel O'Neill who also owned a grocery store next door which caught fire July 12th that year while O'Neill was inside with customers looking out windows; no one was injured although some items were destroyed including glassware and crockery used at that time by many early settlers in this area including Jno Hickey (the father of Bishop Donnellan Hickey), Captains William Kidd (1798-1867) & David Ladd (1814-1886) & their families as well as other early residents such as Captains Philip Barton (1799-1851), Nicholas Goulet (1800-1868), Elijah White (1800-1881), Adam Greenough (1793-184? - after he married into an early family here Apr 1797) & others etc etc). In 1865 both stores were closed due to growing competition among various merchants within downtown Saint Louis so they reopened under new names: "Boyd's Drug Store" on Third Street between Sixth Avenue & Seventh Avenue from 1865 until 1870 then "Haney's Implement Store" before finally becoming "Maryville Hardware Company" which operated continuously from 1870 until 1951 when it merged with local rival Sears Roebuck& Co.'s company making Maryville one large Midwestern retailer serving most notably Saint Louis metropolitan area with Distribution Center located just south of I-64 exit 285 near Manchester Road outside Interstate 70 service area north side

Maryville is a small town in far north-central Missouri, United States. The population was 1,052 at the 2010 census. It was founded by pioneers in 1837 as a trading post on the Chouteau River. The town grew rapidly during the late 19th century due to its location and natural resources: coal and oil fields, as well as lumber and mining opportunities. The population reached 2,000 in 1920 before falling to 1,100 by 1930. The economic decline of the Great Depression led to a decrease in population until it reached 999 in 2000. Since then, the community has seen an increase in development: new housing, businesses, and schools have been built. In recent years Maryville has attracted attention from students attending nearby University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC) and Kansas State University (KSU). The town was named for General George Washington Marye who served with distinction during the American Revolution. General Marye donated land to establish Maryville after he heard about its potential for growth. The first store opened within two years of its founding and soon other businesses followed suit; within a few years all of the land surrounding the original trading post had been developed into what is today known as downtown Maryville. During World War II many residents fled Germany for fear of persecution; many still live here today primarily because they are unable or unwilling to leave their homes again since most memories of Nazi terror have faded away over time. After 1945 much progress was made however crime rates soared which led one resident (Goudreau) to call for criminal justice reform; this eventually became law when he won his seat on city council in 2001 despite being unopposed that year In 2007 revenue from parking permits went up 50% due largely to an increase in tourism which brought more people into town especially during college football season As part of Mayor John Rhodes' vision statement "Forward Together" initiatives such as beautification projects like streetlights along Chouteau Boulevard were started while also increasing spending on arts & culture initiatives such as hosting local poets every month at City Hall where food is provided
