Maryland Heights, Missouri is a town in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5,047 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Saint Louis metropolitan area. The first settler in what is now Maryland Heights was David Harker in 1819. In 1825, John Searcy purchased land in what is now Maryland Heights from David Harker for $3 per acre. In 1830, James Sayers and his family moved to what is now Maryland Heights from the east side of St. Peters Township on the River Des Moines due to religious beliefs that no one should live near water which would make them vulnerable to disease. They named their new home "Maryland Heights" after Princess Mary of Teck who had died young while visiting America before her husband King George IV became queen in 1827 and they were able to purchase 4 acres (1 km²) of land adjacent to their home for $8 per acre ($/hr). In 1830-32 Daniel Slater built a log cabin on his farmstead called Slatersville across from present day Maryland Heights Cemetery; it still stands today as a private residence known as "The Old House". This was the first permanent settler's house within present day Maryland Heights boundaries; it sat until 1840 when John Wray erected a small frame dwelling known as "The White House" next door to his agricultural operation which he operated until 1865 when he sold it to Mr. & Mrs. Fenton for $10/acre ($/$/day). In 1836-37 Benjamin Butler built a frame house on much later site now occupied by University Hospital; this structure still stands today as an important infrastructure building for the hospital complex dating back to its construction date in 1886-87 under then Mayor Samuel Ziegfeld's leadership with support of Drs., Harry Emerson Fenton and Alfred Nobel II during that time period also known as "therenaissance" city planning movements during this era with an architecture appreciation movement being burgeoning at that time period too! On January 1st 1870 Stroudsburg native Cephus Lawrence arrived at Roanoke Rapids General Store wagon train along with over 100 other pioneers including 30 men armed with shotguns & swords en route westward via Council Bluffs Iowa Territory bound for Oregon where they would establish Fort Kearny using resources obtained there before reaching Oregon Trailheads! At approximately 6:00 PM local time they stopped nearpresent day MDH off US 40 about 8 miles northeast of present day Roanoke Rapids on Dutchman creek bed just south of entrance road leading into town limits then proceeded downreek stream bank following Spanish Creek bed all the way through town limits where they unload supplies prior taking wagons into businesses located along Main Street current boundary between Roanoke Rapids &MDH thence continuing northwesterly along French Market Road past Goudreau's Mill also extant today beyond original turnoff onto Present Day US 40 just inside town limits

In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln delivered a speech at University College in Frederick where he criticized slavery and called for its abolition. Maryland Heights experienced some growth during this time with construction of roads and homes starting around this time. However, due to World War I, agricultural production stopped and many residents left for military service or other opportunities abroad. During World War II, Maryland Heights saw heavy combat with both American and German troops fighting on opposite sides inWWII Boulevard Offensive and Normandy Invasion respectively In 1949, University College moved from Frederick to St Louis along with other colleges in Missouri due to budgetary reasons In 1960 University College merged with Washington University in St Louis creating one of the largest university systems in America In 1978 UCL merged into London's ImperialCollege Students who attend US universities are required to take "US History/Cultural Studies" courses even though these courses may not deal directly with American history or culture
In 1871, a group of investors established the town of Maryland Heights on the east side of Missouri. The town was named for Prince George's County, Maryland, where many of the original settlers had come from. The town grew quickly and soon became a major center for trade in the region. In 1886, the first post office was established in Maryland Heights. By 1912, the population had reached 3,000 people and it began to grow rapidly again as new businesses were founded in the area. In 1916, Maryland Heights was made an official city and experienced rapid growth once again. Eventually, it became one of the most populous cities in Missouri.
