On November 3, 1872, Union Army General George Armstrong Custer was fatally shot by a Sioux warrior named Sitting Bull in what is now North Dakota. The event became known as the “Trail of Tears” and led to the termination of the Union army in Minnesota. This led to increased tensions between Native Americans and whites in Marshall, Missouri. On October 16, 1883, an all-white jury acquitted white farmer Emmett Till of murder for whistling at a negro girl. This event helped fuel the Black American Movement and gave rise to SNCC (the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People).
Marshall is a small town in central Missouri, United States. The population was 7,425 at the 2000 census. It is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. It lies on the bank of the Arkansas River and east of the Cairo-Stilwell urban area. The first settler in what is now Marshall was Elijah Chamberlain in 1825. By 1840, there were three settlements: Chambersburg (northwest of present day Marshall), Graysboro (southwest of Marshall), and Fairview (east of present day Marshall). In 1841, Simeon Dickenson bought land northeast of present day Marshall from Abram Winchester for $1,000. Dickenson named his tract "Marshall" after his father-in-law, General James Butler's brother-in-law Moses Weems. In 1861, when Missouri became a state, it included all of current day Marshall County as well as parts of Graysboro and Fairview Counties to the south and west respectively. The community at its peak had about 100 residents; by 1890 it had decreased to just 12 residents due to factors such as railroad construction nearby and a lack of industry on the banks of the Arkansas River which discouraged farming activity among those who did try it out. When Missouri merged with Kansas in 1907 to form Kansas City–Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area (KMSA), Marshal remained within KMSA until 1925 when it became an enclave within KMSA's eastern boundary - specifically known as Douglas County - because nearly all other county boundaries within KMSA changed that year while Marshy remained unchanged except for its designation as an enclave only! This situation continued until 1959 when all Wichita County boundaries within KMSA changed - including Marshalls annexing portions into Douglas County! However, even though Marshal has long been an enclave within KMSA's eastern boundary despite no changes thereto during its entire existence (!), this does not mean that there are no real consequences associated with living inside one's own little bubble! For example: although Marshalls have always been able to vote themselves tier 1 school districts outside of any cities or counties they may be situated near (just like any other municipality or agglomeration therein) their voting power herewithin actually decreases somewhat since KMSAs larger city/county areas automatically include them without having to go through formalities; furthermore their "little" town status often restricts their ability to do much more than attend local events... so don't forget your wallet when you're headed out there this weekend ;)

The town enjoyed a period of stability until World War II arrived, when it faced another devastating attack from Japanese troops。 However, despite some setbacks (such as damage done bybombing raids), Marshall ultimately emerged victorious from the conflict and continues to thrive today as a vibrant cultural center based on its history and culture.
