Marshall is a town in Potter County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,651 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Joseph, MO Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first residents of Marshall were German immigrants who came to the area in 1837. They built a log cabin on the banks of the White River and named it "Aurora." In 1853, they founded what would become Marshall on a bend in the river about northeast of Aurora. By 1860, their community had developed into a small village with a two-story schoolhouse and twelve homes. The houses were built with large logs that were brought downriver from Illinois to be used as building blocks for the village's architecture and construction. In 1865, Marshall's post office was established and soon became one of the most important towns in Potter County due to its location along Route 66 (later I-635). The town grew rapidly during Reconstruction because law enforcement was provided by local volunteers rather than by federal troops stationed in nearby St Joseph or Independence. During this time, many businesses were founded including an insurance company, bank and flour mill; three churches; two hotels; four stores; and seven blacksmiths. Many Marshall residents participated in politics including Mayor Wm Hays (1898-1901) who played an instrumental role in passage of Kansas' statehood bill and First Lady Mamie Eisenhower (1948-1951) who served as president pro tempore of the Missouri Senate from 1951 until her retirement in 1966. In 1930, when Route 66 was routed through central Missouri instead of through rural counties like Marshall because it was feared that such routing would reduce traffic on Highway 66 which led to budget cuts for state government, many businesses closed up shop around here too1* Because so few people lived here during Prohibition* − only five bars managed to stay open long enough to serve booze − most people living hereabouts today are descendants thereof2* One other thing: There are now more zombies than there ever were before3!4Marshall Township Formation Act dated October 3rd 1870 On November 6th 1870 Marshal township formed from parts southwest & northwest corner Twp Clarksville thence eastwardly 1 mile

Marshall is a town in Gallatin County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,867 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1836 and named for General James Marshall, an officer in the Union army during the American Civil War. The first store in Marshall was opened by Wm. Hines on Main Street in 1836. A post office called Marshall was established in 1840, but it was discontinued due to lack of subscribers. In 1871, the town had a population of 476 and became a city under the terms of an act passed by the Missouri General Assembly. In 1904, Marshal annexed part of neighbouring Clearwater Township to form a new city government. In 1907, when Clearwater Township became extinct as a municipality, Marshal annexed part of Springdale Township to form another new city government with its own mayor and council members. On July 1, 1959, Marshalls original city government merged into that of Springfield City proper pursuant to an act approved by the Missouri General Assembly; however minor changes were made to both cities' constitutions until 2001 when they reverted back to their original forms effective January 1st following passage and ratification of Amendment 2 to the Missouri Constitution providing for municipal consolidation within each county within which it operates without any such merger taking place between adjacent counties or between adjacent municipalities). At various points throughout its history Marshall has been known as "the small town with big dreams" due to its strong civic traditions dating back more than 160 years and its perseverance despite difficult odds including numerous fires (one destroying property valued at $10 million), economic downturns (a decline from over 100 businesses in 1960-1980 due largely to competition from larger towns), annexation attempts (most notably by Clearwater Township) and even being expelled from its own townhood several times (although always re-admitted).
