In the early 1800s, many Americans were interested in acquiring firearms. In Liberty, Missouri, there was a large population of riflemen who went by the name of "BB guns." These rifles were made to shoot balls that could be reloaded quickly with small rounds. The bb gun was used primarily as a toy and was not particularly effective at killing people or creatures. However, it did have its purposes for target practice and self-defense. The BB gun's popularity slowly died out in the late 1800s but it is still remembered today for its unique history in Liberty.

The Liberty firearm company was founded by Samuel Colt in 1857. The company became a leading producer of firearms during the American Civil War, and produced over 1 million rifles and shotguns. In 1865, the company merged with George W. Brown & Sons to form Browning Arms Company. The new company continued to produce firearms until 1923.

It is bordered by Jefferson County to the south, St. Francois County to the west, and Boyle County to the north. The population of Liberty was 953 as of 2017. Liberty has been a town since 1836 and became a city in 1907. It is named after General James K. Polk who was president during that time. The area where Liberty now stands was first settled by German immigrants in the early 1800s and was known as "Neenah". In 1836, General James K. Polk arrived in what is now Liberty with his army to fight against Native American resistance movements led by Chief Black Hawk. He named the area for himself, claiming it as part of his general territory following his victory over this group at Battle Creek on July 6th, 1836. The town quickly grew due to its location and opportunities for agriculture given its fertile soil and easy accessibility to water resources from nearby riverside towns such as Holland or Pawnee City (now Phelpsville). In 1839, vote results showed that Liberty had gained city status based on a petition signed by Mayor John Underwood which stated: "We solicited your signature because we believe that ourcity should be placed upon an equal footing with other cities within our limits." This made Liberty one of only two cities in Missouri without any slaveholding residents at that time; the other being Delhi (later renamed Columbia). In 1861, when Missouri became a Confederate state following their successful efforts to secede from America, many local citizens decided they would rather stay within Missouri than join forces with their southern counterparts. This decision resulted in much tension between these groups until 1865 when Union troops captured all but three out of six cities in western Missouri including Independence which remained loyal to America throughout this period known as The Civil War era (1861-1865). After The Civil War ended did not result into anything like hoped for with Reconstruction taking place which aimed to improve civil rights for African Americans followed by political changes leading up towards new elections eventually resulting in Lincoln’s assassination via shots fired from outside Ford’s Theatre across Pennsylvania Avenue on April 14th 1865 sparking four days of chaos across America culminating with President Andrew Johnson replacing Lincoln as headof government becoming known as The Great West Wing Era (1865-1901) making Liberty one stoplight during this time period also known variously as “The Slump Years” or “The Gilded Age” while continuing growth rates until World War I bringing about even more population growth until reaching its current form having reached 1053 people according to 2017 census data Liberty experienced significant growth starting around 1870 due largely due to railroad construction brought about by entrepreneurs such along US 46 which bisected present day downtown liberty then emerging onto Cairo Road just east of Bardstown Road later becoming Memphis Street before finally coming together along Commercial Street forming what is today downtown . Railroad companies built several major lines running through town connecting it directly or indirectly with other larger towns such Asko/Olathe/Lenexa/Kansas City etc giving rise both economically and socially however development stopped once thoseroads were bypassed beginning around 1920 concurrent with increased travel times between those large markets creating commuting woes especially for lower income earners . With automobiles becoming prevalent post WWI transport options changed dramatically increasing prices associated with goods transported thereby decreasing demand leading businesses owners unable or unwilling To expand beyond what they already had regardless if it meant additional labor costs particularly jobs lostizing existing employees often finding themselves laid off reducing workforce size ultimately impacting social fabric causing desensitization .. zoning regulations enacted during prohibition era prohibiting alcohol sales further hurting local economy although some slowly started developing bars & restaurants again beginning around 1950 Prior To Prohibition

Liberty, Missouri was first settled in 1821 by pioneer settlers from Kentucky. The town was named after James K. Polk, the 22nd United States President who served from 1841 to 1849. Liberty grew rapidly during the 1830s and 1840s as brickyards and other businesses came online to support the growing population. In 1846, a group of Methodist Episcopal missionaries founded Liberty Academy to provide education for African Americans in the area. The town continued to grow until the early 1800s when it became an all-black community due to racist policies of slaveowners in neighboring Arkansas. In 1955, Liberty was renamed honorifically for Ulysses S. Grant, then America's first Secretary of War and one of its most significant presidents. By 1990, however, race had become a defining issue in the town and many residents chose not to rename themselves after historical figures associated with racism. Today, Liberty is a vibrant community that offers opportunities for residents of all ages to engage in its many cultural experiences; including art galleries, restaurants, museums and libraries; as well as annual events such as the Freedom Festival or Stampede Days celebration which celebrates local independence Day.
Liberty, Missouri is a small town in central Missouri that was ceded to the United States by France on July 4, 1763. The town was named for the right of free speech and assembly which the Declaration of Independence guarantees.
