The first real gunnery school in what is now Missouri was established at Fort Donelson in 1871 by Colonel James H. Wilson and Commodore Thomas G. Phelps. It became an artillery depot for training artillerymen, which later gave rise to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York City where cadets also underwent military training with firearms from 1875-1879. In 1892, the Calumet Arsenal was built on the east side of town and began producing high-quality rifles for use by soldiers and law enforcement officials throughout the Midwest U.S.. The arsenal produced over 500 rifles during its lifetime including many models that are still in use today such as the Model 1886 Springfield rifle or Model 1903 Springfield rifle

The city quickly grew due to its location and accessibility to both railroads and products from other parts of America. In 1857, Lake St. Louis hosted the international fairgrounds complex which saw many famous exhibitions such asthe Paris Exhibition of 1900 orinational exposition held in Chicago in 1893! In addition, this complex also served as home to several colleges including Yale University (1859), Tulane University (1860),and Washington & Jefferson College (1863). The city also played host to important political events such asthe 1860 presidential election where Andrew Johnson won an impressive victory against Abraham Lincoln! As businesses increased their presence in downtown StLouis during this time period, however, housing prices started increasing rapidly which caused much Conflict between businesses and residents! Eventually though Mayor John Collins formed a committee with businessmen George Herron & others to develop plans for redevelopment which later became known as Central City! This plan focused on demolishing old buildings along with creating new ones that would be more affordable for everyone; resulting in today’s vibrant central business district! Today, Lake StLouis continues to be one of America’s most popular tourist destinations thanks largely to its stunning scenery combined with world-class attractions like Busch Stadium and Busch Gardens – both located within easy walking distance of each other! The four brothers were joined by another brother about 1830 who ran an adjacent gristmill before abandoning operations around 1840 because of financial struggles brought about by depressed prices for cornmeal caused by repeated droughts throughout this period worldwide due to European Embargoing activities during the Napoleonic Wars; though some evidence suggests he may have actually been involved with running both mills simultaneously until bankruptcy forced him into retirement circa 1850.)
