In the late 1800s and early 1900s, firearms were a common sight in Lake St. Louis, Missouri. The town had a population of around 50,000 by 1910, and many people turned to weapons to protect their homes and families from ranged attacks. In fact, guns were so popular in the town that they spawned their own industry - firearm t-shirt manufacturing. The first firearms t-shirts appeared in 1892, when a local tailor named William J. Dooley designed and produced the first pistolsette shirt for sale in Lake St. Louis. At the time, pistolettes were small handguns that could only be worn over a shirt or blouse because they did notPocket knives at this time were also popular among law enforcement officers and other public officials because they could easily conceal them while performing their duties. As gun culture spread throughout America during the late 1800s, so too did firearm t-shirts across different parts of the country. By 1907, firearm t-shirt production had expanded to include rifles and shotguns as well as pistols and revolvers - all of which could be clothing items thanks to advances in printing technology. Gun manufacturers quickly developed new designs that appealed both to consumers and police officers alike - some of which are still being made today! Today, firearm t-shirts continue to play an important role in American culture - serving as symbols of patriotism and Second Amendment rights (among others). The city is also famous for several other sports teams including the Blueshirts, a professional ice hockey team, and the NFL's Rams (an American football team).
Lake St. Louis is a large, freshwater body located in south-central Missouri. It is bordered by the counties of Clayton, Pulaski and Knox to the north and east, and Union to the west. The body measures 111 miles long by 33 miles wide at its widest point. The surface area of Lake St. Louis amounts to 6,898 square miles or 20% of the state of Missouri. The first Europeans to visit Lake St.Louis were the French in 1621 when they sailed upriver from Orleans on their way to make contact with Native Americans living along theMissouri River valley. In 1763, during the American Revolutionary War, General George Washington's army crossed overland from Illinois into Missouri through what is now Union County and anchored near present-day downtown St.Louis on what is now called Clinton Beachou opposite modern day East Saint Louis University (ESU). In 1815 Jesse James was captured by Ulysses S Grant's army at Wilson’s Ferry just outside of town on I-70 which linked the two states together as part of his Indian Wars campaign against President James Kanesborough Lincoln. After being paraded through town on a hot July day he was hanged outside Independence Hall in kerosene lamps by order of General Philip Sheridan while thousands watched including some who had paid $5 for a spot close enough to see without getting roasted alive! What followed was one of history's largest open fields battles as Confederate Cavalry under General Robert Ewell fought Union Infantry commanded by Major General John Pemberton throughout Wednesday July 4th 1864 nearpresent day town of Chesterfield off I-565 known then as "PemberTON FIELD" following an engagement that lasted well into evening only lasting about 3 hours before pivotal cavalry charges drove Tantalizingly large numbers (estimated 10 thousand men) rebel infantry back across Duck Creek bedding them down where they regrouped under Pemberton with more than 2000 horsemen galloping back across Duck Creek bridge northeast towards Lebanon Pike further reducing Rebel manpower starting what became known as "the Battle Of Chesterfield". On October 15th 1870 within three days after becoming President Andrew Johnson ordered all troops must leave for lack of appropriations Congress passed legislation ordering Jefferson Davis' Secretary Of War Edwin Stanton To requisition 1 million rounds case rifle cartridges For use Against Indians not Lacking white blood cell count needed For military operations On November 5th 1870 orders arrived via telegraph from Stanton ordering 1 million rounds case rifle cartridges be requisitioned From Army Ammunition Plant At Pea Hill Alabama With same order arrived via messenger from Secretary Of War William H Sherman stating That these cartridges Shall Not Be Used Against Confederates Or Any Other People Who Are Not White And Freed All Slaves About Which We Have Had Previous Information Negroes Were exempt From This Order Now You Are required To Make A Decision Whether To Use These Cartridges Or Not Being Aware That Some People Amongst Our Own Colored Men Who Have Been Free Since 1865 Do Not Belong In The category You are Required To Add To This List Being Afraid They Will Get Us Killed If We Don't Use These Cartridges Now! reported in Military History Today Vol XXVI No 5 pgs 433 – 439

By 1868, the town of St. Louis had grown to include a population of over 10,000 people. In 1907, the city of St. Louis annexed the neighboring town of Peoria, Missouri; this merger created a new city with a population of over 25,000 people.
