Kirkwood is home to one of the first airguns in Missouri. The gun was invented in 1892 by John J. Wright, and it soon became popular among farmers and hunters in the state.

Kirkwood is a small town in Missouri, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield Township seat. The community is named after George Kirkwood, an early settler and one of the first farmers in the area. The community began as a farmstead on a tract of land that was donated to them by George Kirkwood's grandson, Daniel Kirkwood. Daniel moved his family to the area in 1853 and started farming the land himself. By 1865, he had acquired 5 acres of land which he sold to John Sowers. A year later, Sowers sold his land to Charles Hutton who built a house on it and called it Kirkwood House. In 1875, James Ladd purchased 3/4 acre from Hutton and erected a log cabin on it which he called Ladd's Cabin. In 1877-78, Rufus King bought 2/3 acre from Ladd and erected another log cabin which he called King's Cabin. In 1889-90, Elijah Sprague bought 1/3 acre from King and erected another log cabin which he called Sprague Cabin. That same year, Wm Boudreau purchased 1/2 acre from Sprague and erected a frame house which he called Boudreau House. In 1893-94 (the last year for which data are available), Charles McGee took over ownership of Kirkwood House from Boudreau and continued to use it as his home until his death in 1939. From then until 1955 when it was taken down for replacement with an all brick building (which still stands today) located off Route 66 near exit 131), Kirkwood was used as headquarters for local government services for nearby towns such as Springfield Township (formerly Todd County). According to the 2010 census,[1] there were 1,868 people living in Kirkwood at that time; however this number may have increased since then due to recent annexations into other towns within Springfield Township including Interstate 65 minutes away by car or less than 10 minutes by bus ride away via Highway 66![2] Additionally since 2000[3], many new homes have been built within the limits of Kirkgown proper making up what has become an annexed section of township now known as Village Park![4] With its rich history dating back more than 160 years - something that can be found nowhere else on Earth - Kirkgown should come as no surprise that several restaurants & bars have sprung up around its busy main square throughout recent years – offering residents & visitors alike plenty to do while they live here!

The first airguns were created in 1876 by two British scientists, George Stephenson and John Fenton. They designed a gun that used compressed air to fire projectiles. The gun was called the "Atomic Rifle." It was not successful, but it showed that airguns could be fired successfully.

Kirkwood, Missouri is located in the eastern part of the state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 9,883. The village was founded in 1852 by Job Kirkwood and his family. It is named after his father, John Kirkwood. Kirkwood is one of three towns in northeastern Missouri that are still considered separate municipalities. The other two are Powertown and Mahoningville. The town was first settled by fur trappers and hunters who came to the area during the early 1800s. By 1851, it had about sixty residents and was known for its salt water springs and fertile land. In 1855, a post office was established in the town with Job Kirkwood as its first mayor. In 1861, a railroad station was built in Kirkwood which allowed for easier access to goods from nearby St Louis County. In 1865, an academy was started in town which became well-known for educating local children into adulthood. The town also began developing its own industries including leather tanning, brewing beer and distilling whiskey. In 1902, Job Kirkwood died and bequeathed his property to Mahoning Valley Railways Company which used it to build a line between Mahoningville and Powertown (now Scottstown). This helped revive both villages which were struggling economically before this development occurred; Powertown enjoyed rapid growth while Mahoningville experienced modest growth until World War II when their populations exploded due to increased transportation needs across the Great Lakes region at that time (. Kirkwood has since regained some economic stability but remains majority-minority black community with about seventy percent of its residents being African American). Thefetched history behind this municipality comes from its location on what once constituted an important trading route between Great Lakes states; according to historian Alain Locke,. "Precisely because this corridor linked Lake Michigan with Ohio River Valley - thus supplying much demand for munitions shipped downriver - [Kirkwood] acquired importance as a commercial center." Furthermore, "the close proximity of several major rivers made possible efficient trade across them ... [and] shipping routes connecting these rivers served as important conduits for goods arriving from points east." With all this activity taking place within walking distance or less than five miles away from many homes And businesses meant that not only did people live near where they worked but they could easily get around without leaving their neighborhoods if need be... such flexibility likely contributed significantly to[the town's] continuing vitality over time".

Kirkwood was founded in 1827 by Captain John Kirkwood, a captain of the steamboats Wabash and Nauvoo. The town grew rapidly after it was chosen as the site for a new county seat in 1836. The first courthouse was built in 1840, and the first school was opened in 1846. In 1861, Kirkwood became the capital of Missouri. The city experienced significant growth during World War I, with construction of military installations including an airbase and a munitions plant. However, due to financial difficulties and the war's impact on the local economy, Kirkwood declined to become an official city during World War II. In 1949, Kirkwood became an independent city under the leadership of Mayor John Erikson. Growth resumed following both world wars until the late 1990s when there were several rounds of population decline throughout downtown cores around Peoria Street and Saline Avenue
