The Kirksville & Northern Railroad reached Kirksville in 1861, making it one of the first towns west of Illinois to get railroad service. For many years there was no telephone service in Kirksville; people relied on oral accounts or runners to bring news back east about events happening in other parts of Missouri. However, with the arrival of fiber optics technology, Kirksville now has high quality internet service available throughout most of its community despite having no streetlights or public transportation! In 1907, Congressman Emanuel CUSHMAN built what is now known as CUSHMAN Plaza housing stock for workers employed by his farm businesses near Kirksville High School which became home to many famous residents including President Woodrow Wilson andv Vice President Henry Ford both growing up here including their father! Today much of that original housing still stands preserved within walking distance from our school district’s headquarters!

However, after World War I began, economic conditions deteriorated in KirKSVILLEand the population declined gradually until it fell to around 15 residents by 1940. It has since rebounded somewhat and now has over 60 residents.
