There are a few gun sights in Kirksville, Missouri that date back to the 1800s. The first sight in town was an early 18th century French posthole drill. The second sight was a blacksmith’s shop and forge located on the east side of town. From here, shooters could see the surrounding countryside while shooting at targets out in the open. In 1832, Captain John Smedley built a small cabin near where he now sits and used it as his shooting gallery. He also built a small mill on the stream that flowed by his property and used it to produce flour for local residents. -In 1853, Captain John Smedley’s son-in-law, Hiram Bledsoe, donated land to Kirksville for a public square that would serve as its central location. -ThesquarewasnamedEatonHall after Elisha Eaton who donated land for it in 1836 and served as Mayor from 1840 to 1845. -In 1865, Colonel James Purdy donated land adjacent to his farm which served as the town square until 1903 when it was renamed Kirby Hall after him. Kirksville had its first commercial store opened in 1865 by Captaine Auldridge under license from Major General Rufus King Jr.. Also opening that year were three blacksmith shops – one run by Solomon Young and two run by Ebenezer Mosely and Augustus Hersey respectively. In 1870, Mrs. Sarah Hargrave opened her own general store which became known as “The Lady” because of its large inventory of goods including groceries and clothing items . By 1888 there were six stores operating within the limits of Kirksville with an average sales volume of $1 million per year!
Kirksville is a small town in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,757 at the 2010 census. Kirksville is part of the Springfield metropolitan area. It is the only village in St. Francois County and the only incorporated community in the county. The first settlers to arrive in Kirksville were three brothers from Wales who named their discovery "Kirksville." They set up a trading post on an old stream near present-day Kirksville and built a log cabin nearby which still stands today as a museum piece. The settlement grew slowly until 1825 when two brothers from Kentucky purchased land from Godfrey and Farnum for $1,000 dollars cash. They named their new community "Kirkwood." In 1828, Jeptha Allen moved to Kirksville with his family and began developing what would become one of Missouri's most important cotton plantations: Allen's Creek plantation adjacent to present day Kirksville. Today, much of that original plantation remains intact including white servant quarters and slave quarters where many African Americans worked during the antebellum period. In 1840, Louisiana Purchase Landowner James Buchanan donated over 4500 acres (2 km²) to be used as a proposed capital of Missouri; this parcel included KirksVILLE The village was platted on November 12th 1846 by Wm Prentice & John Senter under provisions made by General Order No 2 dated October 9th entitled "Promulgation of platting boundaries for townships within said county" This order laid out all future boundaries for Saint Francois County with certain exceptions being given to KIRKSVILLE specifically parcels east of US Route 50 known locally as "the Black Hills". This order also allowed for erection of schoolhouses within limits delineated by these boundaries providing that such structures were not immediately dedicated or occupied as dwellings but were instead used for religious instruction or public meeting places pending donation/approval from said territorial government authorities

Kirksville is a town in Randolph County, Missouri, United States. The population was 996 at the 2010 census. Kirksville was founded in 1836 by landfill operators John and Nancy Kirkpatrick. The first post office was established in 1838, and the first store was built in 1840. Kirksville became a town in 1856. It had a school district until it merged with St Josephs School District in 1961. In 1870, the railroad came to Kirksville and began serving the town as well as other nearby villages. By 1900, Kirksville had become a small agricultural community with about 30 businesses and 1,000 residents. The original courthouse building still stands today and is used for storage or for ceremonial events such as dances at the high school gymnasium. In 1951, when Randolph County merged into Grays Harbor County, Kirksville became part of that new county. As part of the merger process, all of Grays Harbor County's towns were placed within one larger municipality - including Kirksville - but this did not mean that KirksVILLE became municipally-owned property like most other municipalities in Grays Harbor County! Rather, it continued to be an unincorporated community within the newly created municipality which held its own taxes and jurisdiction over its own affairs (although there were some restrictions on what kind of business could be done). This status quo continued until 1991 when an act of Congress amended Section 7 of the Missouri Constitution to make municipal governments "the primary governing body for all localities having more than 500 inhabitants". Thus beginning a period where municipal ownership has increasingly replaced unincorporated communities throughout much of Randolph County! Today, there are over 100 businesses operating out of Kirkshvillians busy downtown area which includes several stores (including JCPenney), two restaurants (Bella Vita Italian Cafe & Wellesley's), four banks (First National Bank & Trust Company; Mid America Bank; Citizens National Bank; Shaw Bros., Inc.), three transportation companies (Trainor Bus Lines LLC; MOXIE bus service); two health care providers (Aurora Health Partners & Mercy Health Care System); one manufacturing company (Wacoal USA); nine residences totaling over 200 units; two churches - First Presbyterian Church & Christ United Methodist Church - both located inside city limits; one daycare provider - Bright Horizons Daycare Center Ltd.; three schools: Randolph High School 、Grayson Middle School 、Kirkwood Elementary School (); and one adult literacy center 以上に暮らす方々が集まり合い、一体として立ち上ることができるようになりました。
The Kirksville community was founded in 1819. It is named after General James A. Kirks, a Confederate general who fought in the American Civil War. The town was originally a small farming center with only 6 residents. However, it grew rapidly and by 1871 had over 400 residents. Kirksville became an important transportation hub during the 1800s because it was located on the Missouri River and its riverboats transported goods to and from St. Louis and other cities. The town also developed into a manufacturing center, thanks to its plentiful timber resources and good access to water supplies.
