Kirksville, Missouri is a small town in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. The population was 1,814 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Kirksville-area Micropolitan Statistical Area. The name means "church settlement." The first permanent settler in Kirksville was David Shearer, who arrived in 1815. He named his land after his ancestor, Christopher Kirks, who had come to America from Scotland in 1780. In 1824 John Sargent moved from Illinois and purchased Kirksville land from Shearer. A sawmill and lumberyard were built on the river by Sargent and others in 1830-31; these have been replaced by a number of businesses including an agricultural hospital and a grocery store since then. In 1851 Elijah Hicks bought 5 acres (2 hectares) east of the current town site for $200; he founded what became Hicksboro about this time. In 1861 John Pritchard bought some adjacent property for $225; he established Pittsburg County where Kirksville now stands. Other early settlers included Jno Garbutt (1832-1907), Captn Wm Dixon (1836-1912), Chas Hagerstrom (1837-1920), Geo Mclntyre (1838-1901), James Cranch (1839-1945) and Eliab Bicknell (1800-1868). During World War II much activity took place at nearby Kirtland Air Force Base which is now home to Springfield College; there were also factories manufacturing munitions here such as General Motors and Rolls Royce among others. After the war many people left to return to their homes elsewhere but Kirk's Creek remained largely rural until well into the 21st century with exceptions being made for some farmers growing cotton near Stilwell Lake up until about 1990 when it too began declining due to various factors such as drought etc.; today only a few scattered farms remain around Kirtland AFB while most residents live within 3 miles or less of downtown Kirksville proper although there are still occasional visitors from that area during summer months when things get interesting downriver! Kirk's Creek winds its way through residential neighborhoods all along its length before joining the main road just north of downtown which skirts past several shopping malls before rejoining again about 2/3rds OF THE WAY UPriver towards Stilwell Lake where growth has resumed but with little impact on water levels so far despite concerns raised over increased flooding potential should those levels rise somewhat further!

Kirksville, Missouri is located in the Ozarks region of central Missouri. The town was founded in 1847 by John Kirkpatrick and his wife, Nancy. The town became a county seat in 1868 and a city in 1913. Kirksville is the cultural and commercial center of the Ozarks region. It has a population of approximately 37,000 people. The first European to visit Kirksville was Jean-Baptiste de Lacrosse on April 10, 1765. Lacrosse noted that "the mounds here appeared to be built with great labor." He called the area "a place which I could not help but admire for its situation." In 1847, John Kirkpatrick purchased 2,200 acres (10 km²) of land from the US government for $205. He named his new town Kirk'sville after himself and his wife, Nancy. In 1914, Kirksville became part of the newly formed city of Springfield Township when it was merged into that township's boundaries. On July 1, 1913, Springfield Township changed its name to Kirksville Township because City Hall had been destroyed by fire two years earlier in Springfield Heights). At that time there were only 5 other townships in central Missouri without their own city limits; these were Alton Heights (1893), Alma (1901), Bellevue (1909), Columbia Heights (1920), Florissant Springs (1927) and Poplar Bluff(1931). On January 1st 1921 all cities within central Missouri were consolidated into one municipality calledSpringfield; this merger resulted in the loss of several thousand jobs within City Hall alone as employees who lived outside of Springfield were no longer able to vote or hold office withinCity Hall itself as they had done before. Since then most citizens living within City Limits have either moved out or left for various reasons: County government has become more centralized and efficient since then; many businesses have relocated to larger counties such as St Louis County; residents have generally accepted an annexation offer from Hannibal so that their neighborhoods would share some services with that establishment while still remainingwithin City Limits; and finally residents generally prefer an environment where they canStill interact with their fellow citizens through social media websites like Facebook or Twitter even though those sites are availablein any large metropolitan area

The town continued to grow throughout the 20th century, becoming one of the most popular communities on Missouri's east coast.
