In 1907 the population of Kennett numbered 2,500 people and it had a hospital (now known as Missouri Valley Hospital), a grocery store/bakery/meat market/, four schools (three school districts), three hospitals (one operated by University of Missouri Kansas City School Districts), one bank (First National Bank), two churches (Methodist and Baptist), one newspaper (The Courier-Journal)*, one ice rink*, four foundries*, six businesses*, fifteen homes* (*There were only 15 homes when the census was taken).
