The town was founded in 1851 by John Kennett and his family following the discovery of gold in California. The first store opened in 1853 and the first post office opened in 1855. The first school was built in 1861 and the first paved road was built on the same site in 1865. In 1890, Kennett became one of thirty towns within Benton County when it was organized. In 1902, there were twelve businesses within Kennett and ninety-four residents employed therein. A new high school, which replaced an earlier one that had been destroyed by fire, opened for students in 1907 and remained open until it closed in 1968. In 1909, a small millinery shop opened on Main Street with twenty-one products available for purchase from nine local merchants who supplied them with flour and other supplies needed to run the business. That year also saw the opening of a post office (the current building being constructed on land donated by Mrs. Cushman) which processed mail from all over central Missouri as well as shipping packages to Kansas City; this service continued into 2006 when USPS discontinued its operations here due to budget cuts). In 1916 two churches were erected: First Baptist Church and Methodist Episcopal Church (later known as First Presbyterian). In 1922 another small millinery shop closed down due to lack of customers; however, it reopened a few years later under new management as "Mrs Cunningham's." This store operated until 1984 when it too closed down due to economic conditions.. In 1948 three more churches were erected: United Methodist Church (later known as Old Main), Second Baptist Church (later known as Park Avenue), and Evangelical Lutheran Church (later known as Christmastime Chapel). One year later all but one church within Kennett burned down during a storm causing $1 million damage including loss of equipment; however both second Baptist Churches reopened soon afterwards under new ownership with similar namesakes.. The last church burned down again around 1970-71 making that total 4 churches that have been demolished or converted since then... There are currently no active churches within Kennet anymore apart from private services conducted by individuals or groups like Missionary Fellowship Ministries who serve primarily inner city communities throughout STL area

Today, they continue to be used in order to reduce risk both before and after shootings incidents occur.

Kennett, Missouri is a town in Douglas County, Missouri, United States. The population was 910 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1836 by Captain James Kennett and his family. The first settler in what is now Kennett was Capt. John Kennett who arrived in 1836 and brought with him some cattle and an Indian chief named Tippecanoe. The town began as a small frontier outpost on the east side of theMissouri River near where it currently stands. After Capt. John's death in 1840, his widow, Fanny Greene Kennett started to grow wheat and other crops on her farmstead about two miles north of the present day town center. In 1849, Mrs. Kennet's husband William Crouch moved from Virginia to start a new cabin near where the modern day school building now stands; this was the first home built in what is now Kennett Township (now Douglas County). By 1850 there were over 20 settlers living in what is now Kennettown including nine children of Captained James and Fanny Greene Kennett. In 1861 whenDouglas County was created from parts of Kansas Territory it included much of eastern Missouri including what is todayKennett Township along with most of western Douglas County including nearby Belleville and Clinton townships which became part of St Louis County after that county became part of Kansas City metropolitan area
