During World War II much activity took place within DowntownKC surrounding Fortress Lee; such as ammunition production and post-war reconstruction efforts that shaped postwar suburban growth throughout Central MO and into present day Wichita KS! Finally upon victory over Japan in 1945 downtownKC came under controlof American authorities once again! This event represented a turning point for DowntownKC as it became known as an anchor along multiple urban corridor stretching from Southwest MO all the way north to Detroit MI!
