This design allowed for increased accuracy due to its increased surface area around the muzzle end of the barrel compared to previous types of receivers. Riflestocks also received other refinements such as 1913 Picatinny rails on both sides of the gunstock and adjustable cheekpiece/muzzle brake devices during this period. During World War I (1914- 1918), rifles used by American forces were conversions from breech loading semiautomatic pistols into rifles by reworking existing armaments specifications to suit these new weapons systems From 1920 until 1934 there was no change to how rifle stocks are built; however since then many updates have been made such as revised sights (including night vision devices), trigger pulls etcetera .
