This resulted in the GunLASER Mk2 which featured both CRT display and Laser Amplification Units (LAUs). The Mk2 system allowed users to produce beams of up to 100 mW each using standard red or green LED illumination sources. In 1976, further refinements were made to the Gun LASER Mk3 which became known as the "Pistol" laser due to its potential use as an assault rifle muzzleloader unit

Joplin was founded in 1871 by John S. Hitt and his wife, Rachel. The town rapidly became a center of the cotton industry due to its location on the Mississippi River. The city of Joplin was founded in 1871 by James M. Shannon and his brother, John Shannon. The brothers were immigrants from Ireland. They named their new community after theJoplin River, which they had seen in a map while on their honeymoon. The river was the inspiration for the community's name and also for its founding slogan, "The City That Could."
