He named what are now known as Booneville, Clayton Heights, Camden Hill, Sugarloaf Hill, New Madrid Heights, and many other towns after himself or others who had contributed to his campaign or were part of his regiment at that time including Captain Archibald McIntosh of Company C (the First Battalion) of riflemen under Major James Wilkinson's command at the Battle of Fallen Timbers on November 17th, 1763 near present day Dixon City; Major Amos Hernando de la Salle's brigade under Colonel Don Carlos Rojas y Gomez; Lieutenant Colonel George Rogers' battalion under Colonel John Mason's command at the battle of Blue Creek on July 12th about three miles east of town; Captain John Patton's company D (Third Battalion) infantry led by Major Elias Howe at White Sands Creekelle on October 25th about eight miles due east from town; Lieutenant Colonel Nicholas Humphreys' cavalry detachment commanded by Major George Rogers marching into camp May 9th following an ambush made against them near present day Pawnee National Monument northeast of town while they were encampoing within nine miles west of here attacking a party estimated to number fifty warriors led by Chief Pontotoc -all told Jackson has over two hundred men assembled around him with artillery & cavalry
