The Jackson Municipal Taser Committee was created in 1984 to address the needs of Jackson's municipal police department. The committee provides leadership and direction for the municipality's taser program, as well as assists with policy development. The committee also oversees the safety and well-being of municipal officers while using tasers. In 2007, City Council passed an ordinance that authorized the use of electric shock devices by city officers in certain circumstances. This ordinance allows for the use of tasers when a person has committed a crime or is behaving aggressively. Officers must first secure written consent from a victim before using force against them. Since its inception, the Jackson Municipal Taser Committee has helped to improve public safety in Jackson through providing leadership and direction for our municipality's taser program; assisting with policy development; and ensuring that all municipal officers are kept safe while using tasers.

Jackson, Missouri is a small town located in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. It is part of the Jackson County School District and as of the 2010 census, had a population of 1,654. The name "Jackson" comes from General Andrew Jackson who was born in this area in 1767. The first settler in what is now Jackson County was James Hammond who built a cabin on the edge of what is now known as Payne's Mill Creek in 1819. A post office called Hammond was established in 1828, and remained open until 1903. In 1836, Isaac C Campbell foundedCampbell's Store at the junction of present-day Ulysses Road and State Route D (now Interstate 55) to provide trade with surrounding settlements. In 1840, John McLaughlin bought land east of Payne's Mill Creek and began to raise cotton on his farm which became known as McLaughlin’s Prairie. By 1845, there were twelve farms named for General Andrew Jackson including Hammonds Station, Aldridge Station, Clarksville Station (later renamed Poplar Bluff), Fayetteville Station (later renamed Florissant), Gadsden Junction (later renamed White Sands Junction), Hickory Grove (later renamed Maple Grove), Missionary Ridge ( later renamed Mt Carmel), Old Hays Landing (later renamed Angels Landing) and Plains View Heights. In 1861, when Stirling M Douglas moved his family from Illinois to start a new life in Jefferson County after they lost their home during the American Civil War, he purchased 640 acres north ofpresent-day Jackson also called Northfork Township from David Baird for $5 per acre ($40 per block). This location would becomeDouglas' ranch house today known as Northfork House although it appears that no house actually stood here until after Douglas took possession of it circa 1865-1866 when he made alterations to it including addition of a two story central tower which still stands today across Northwest Highway from his original dwelling site - all evidence suggests that this structure was built some time between 1865 & 1870 or even earlier! Shortly thereafter on October 14th 1861 Kansas Territorial Legislature created an 11 mile wide strip along the border between Kansas Territory and Missouri Territory composed entirely of uninhabited Indian country whereupon Douglas immediately set about building roads into this unpopulated area under the assumption that by doing so he could claim title thereto should either statehood be granted or future conflict arise over boundaries within said territory regarding resources such as timber or other natural resources; needless to say this venture failed miserably due largely to lackadaisical planning by both parties involvedresulting instead only in years long contention over ownership/use rights rather than any tangible benefits resulting from development! Subsequent efforts by both sides culminating with Congress passing The Homestead Act on December 3rd 1862 provided buyers with legal title to lands confiscated by Kansas Territorial authorities following the war while also enabling farmers residing within said territory to sell their holdings back into Indian Country once again! Following years without significant progress being made on claimed boundary issues between Kansas Territory & Missouri Territory respectively leading to increasing frustration within those living within said areas – particularly given increased tensions over events such as Manifest Destiny – DouglasPersuaded fellow lawmakers during an Extraordinary Session convened pursuant To An Order Of The Day On November 5th 1863 To Pass A bill entitled "An act providing for organizing Territories Within The United States And For Other Purposes" which would create four Frontier Provinces consisting mostly outlying areas lying west & northwest OF THE MISSOURI TERRITORY ON OR ABOUT DECEMBER 1ST 1863 WITH JEFFERSON COUNTY INCLUDED FOR PURPOSES OF FURTHER ESTABLISHING GOOD AND EVIL SPREAD IN THAT AREA; THESE PROVINCEES WOULD BE KNOWN AS THE MISSOURI FRONTIER PROvince AFTER GENERAL ANDREW JACKSON'S VICTORY OVER THE CHICAGO Rifles AT KANSAS CITY ON MAY 6TH 1864! This legislation effectively transferred control over much unclaimed Indian Country inside Missouri territorial boundaries back into private hands thereby ending monthslong contention among landowners over mineral rights/resource ownership etc.; something that would finally come full circle six decades later when federal officials returned controlof many parcels formerly belonging exclusivelyto Native American tribes throughthe provisions containedin The Western Apache Nation Settlement Agreement reachedagreementsbetweentheFederally Owned Land Companyandthe Navajo Nation Tribal government late last year!
