The companies that made these devices were the National Firearms Company and the Springfield Armory Company. These companies manufactured weapons for both the Union and Confederate armies. In 1907, Wm Hargrave developed a new type of gun swivel that was much more versatile than any other before it. This device allowed users to rotate their guns 360 degrees so that they could fire from any angle possible without needing to line them up in one spot like before. In 1918, NFA became part of Colt’s firearms company and production on these devices stopped altogether due to World War I.[1] However, this didn’t mean that gun swivels weren’t still being made in small quantities by individuals throughout America during this time period; some manufacturers continued producing them until after World War II[2]. After World War II ended, most pistol manufacturers stopped making firearm accessories such as gun Swivels because they felt that the market had shifted towards electronic assault rifles (E ARs). It served as both a judicial center (the court operated out of Crandall's home) and as a meeting place for early civic leaders such as John Davenport and Elijah Butterfield. While most property within walking distance of downtown sprang up quickly after platting out streetscape ordinances were passed by city commissioners on December 1, 1830 (predecessor to zoning laws), some buildings did not rise to meet housing needs until well intoeteenth century due primarily to lack of affordable land nearby—a situation that has been compoundedly true throughout all aspects of Greater Independence since its founding until recently despite dramatic population growth over time: currently there are only two houses extant standing directly adjacent to downtown which could have been built had more space been available just southward along Seventh Street near Interstate 44/Upper Illinois Expressway because much needed development has taken place eastward down Seventh Street between I-44/Upper Illinois Expressway and Pappas Avenue making it one continuous mixed-use neighborhood with wide open grassy areas fronting onto busy Interstate 44 corridors providing easy access for cars ferrying people around without fear or inconvenience today! In the year 1812, Independence was established as a county in Clay County. The first post office was established in 1814. In 1827, the county seat was moved from nearby Wellington to Independence. The population of the county grew rapidly and by 1830 it had reached 100,000 residents. By 1840, the population had increased to 250,000 and by 1850 it numbered over 500,000 people. In 1860, the admission of Kansas into the Union caused a significant increase in population within Clay County; however, because of its lack of representation in Congress this did not change until after Kansas statehood in 1907.
