Gun chokes have a long and varied history in Independence, Missouri. They were initially used to prevent firearms from being shot out of officers' hands. Later on, they became commonly used as handguns. Gun chokes are also occasionally used as training tools for law enforcement officers. The first recorded use of gun choke was in 1821 when a man named Daniel Boone attempted to shoot his brother-in-law with a shotgun while he was sleeping. The rifle discharged, hitting Boone in the face and bursting his eardrums. This led to the development of gun chokes as an means of preventing firearm transactions from happening while someone is unconscious or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. There has been much variation in the design and type of gun choke over time. However, all gun chokes involve using one or more fingers to secure the stock against movement, making it difficult for the target shooter to fire any rounds without assistance from their accomplices. Gun chokes can be effective at stopping gunfire when used correctly, but they can also cause serious injury if incorrect usage is made.

There are a number of ways to choke someone with a gun. One is by using the barrel as a restraint, another is by using the grip on the hand holding the gun, and another is by using the trigger. Gun chokes can be effective in trapping people's air supply and preventing them from breathing.

Gun chokes, also known as "firearm choke hold," are a type of choking hold that can be used to restrain someone. The chokehold is typically used on an opponent who is trying to rob or resist arrest. A firearm can be held against the victim's neck and the hand around the gun barrel can be squeezed until the victim feels suffocation.

The history of Independence, Missouri, can be traced back to the time before statehood. The area that is now Independence was part of the Shawnee Nation and until 1821 it was a part of Arkansas. On December 14, 1821, the United States Congress passed the Kansas-Nebraska Act which granted new territories to Kansas and Nebraska. As a result of this act, much of what is now Missouri became part of Kansas while parts of Illinois and Arkansas went to Nebraska. In 1846, when Missouri became a U.S. state, its capital city was moved from Topeka to Jefferson City because there were fears that Topeka would become another city in the growing territory that made up Kansas and Oklahoma. The move helped solidify Independence as the capital city for Missouri. During its history, Independence has been home to many famous people including George Washington who lived here during his presidential years; James K. Polk who served as president in both houses of Congress; Abraham Lincoln; David Dixon resident for over 50 years at 4th Street & Main; Alice Paul who was an important figure in Black rights movement; and many more examples which can be found on pages 574-575 on the website Mizzou History Museum website

Gun chokes were devices used to stop firearms from firing. They consisted of a metal or plastic tube, typically three feet long and two inches in diameter, fitted with a hole at one end and a choke wire connected to the other. The device was inserted into the gun's barrel so that it could not fire, and the choke wire was then threaded through the hole in the tube and around the outside of the gun. When pulled tight, this caused the firearm to "bob" or "skip."

There are a variety of types of gun chokes that have been used in the past. Some of these include: • pre-ban gas impounds, also known as "gassed handguns" or "pre-ban blowguns", which were used to prevent shooters from using too much air pressure when firing rounds. • break barrels, which are devices used to overcome the inertia of a moving barrel and allow it to fire more rounds quickly. • delay triggers, which allow shooters to release the trigger before they need to pull it back again to fire another round.
