Hazelwood is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 7,026 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. The first Hazelwood subdivision was developed in 1907 by George Hazelwood and his brother Fred Hazenmeyer. The Hazelwoods were among the earliest developers in what would become Hazelwood Township. In 1912, they sold their share of the development to J Hulse and Sons for $15,000 dollars cash and two acres of land located near present day University Boulevard and Tenth Street. In 1915, P C Swenson purchased land adjacent to Hazelwood from George Hazenmeyer for $10 per acre ($2 per square foot). He started construction on what would become known as "Swensen's Grove" which consisted of 104 single-family homes and twelve duplexes/condos with recreational facilities such as a pool, tennis courts, gymnasiums and a swimming pool/. By 1922 when it became apparent that heavy industry was not going to leave town (this had been happening since before World War I), Swensen's Grove had grown into what are now known as "Hazelwood Heights", "Hazelwood Village", "Northwest Heights", "East Side Manor" and finally "South Side Manor". In 1926 J Hulse died suddenly leaving his entire estate to his son Harry who then divided it equally between his brothers John & James Hulse; this left most of the land within South Side Manor unoccupied until 1962 when it became part of the city limits
Hazelwood, Missouri is a town in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 753 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Independence, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded on the rise of Hazelwood Creek in 1847 by both German and English-speaking settlers from Illinois and Indiana. By 1860, Hazelwood had a post office and two stores. In 1865, John Pemberton organized a Methodist church in the settlement; it became known as Post Office Park after that. A millinery shop opened in 1870 and continued to operate until 1940; it produced hats for Union soldiers during World War II. In 1871, Elijah Howe built a gristmill on Hazelwood Creek; it remained in operation until 1966. The community also developed an IBM mainframe computer lab facility at Northwest High School starting in 1984 which remains active today with students using the lab to teach high school physics classes as well as other science classes such as chemistry and biology.. In 2006, Griggs Bank raised its first $100 million dollars through an issue of bond issues within its parent company First National Bank of hits downtown area beginning what has been called "the largest single development project ever undertaken by Griggs Bank". This addition to downtown brought much needed retail activity to what had been an agricultural village before that time The opening of GriggsBank's new headquarters gave impetus to plans for further development including more housing developments around the town center along with professional offices off Interstate 94 near the Walmart store now located inside Whatcom County Airport...

Hazelwood is a small town in western Hardin County and is home to the Hazelwood Golf Course, one of the oldest golf courses in America. Born in 1875, Hazelwood's first post office opened in 1881. Many local businesses and organizations have been founded within Hazelwood's boundaries including: The United States Post Office (1896), The Hazelwood School District (1952), The Hardin County Sheriff's Department (1984), and The American Legion Post #628 (1996). The area that now makes up Hazelwood was settled by early French colonists from Quebec who named it for their own family, "Hazel Wood" because of hazelnuts that grew abundantly near their farmstead. In 1836 landowner James Hinton donated 640 acres of land to the United States government for a military fortification as part of General Anthony Wayne's battle against Native Americans known as the Black Hawk War. WhenHardin County was established on November 3, 1839, Hinton Donation lands were included within it and were called "Hazel wood". Over time many other locales were renamed after people or places associated with them such as: Hardin Creek Settlement(1872), Greencastle(1873), Indianola(1876-77), Oak Grove(1878) and Deer Park(1910). When hardpan mining began on what are now State Highway 62 near present day Prairie du Chien in 1922 much of what is now downtown Hazelwood was undeveloped agricultural land used for grazing livestock which attracted prospectors looking for new goldfields during those years. By 1930 over 60% of all acreage within city limits had been mined yielding an estimated $5 million worth of gold but no results have been found since then so development has slowed considerably although there are some commercial operations such as gas stations and restaurants located along Main Street today that date back to when mining stopped several decades ago In 1953 when Interstate 65 became fully operational main street between Quincy & Clearwater became one of its primary travel corridors with businesses opening up along both sides spottyly linking each other via road crossings until recently when a reconstruction project reconstructed all four major intersections making this corridor much more seamless with only a few scattered exceptions; also creating a number new business districts which are generally marked by high-end restaurant chains like ESPNZone & PNC Bank Ballpark Zone close enough to walk or take public transportation into these areas while most smaller merchants remain closed off from outsiders by lack thereof easy access or infrastructure
Hazelwood is a city in and the county seat of Hazelwood County, Missouri, United States. The population was 12,572 at the 2010 census. It began as a small community on the banks of the Arkansas River in 1839. By 1860, it had grown to include a mill and sawmill, three churches, and over 100 homes. In 1871, Hazelwood became part of St. Louis County; but because of its location on the border between St. Louis County and Jefferson County, it continued to be one of the few communities in Missouri without an incorporated government until 1907 when it became an unincorporated town under the jurisdiction of Hazelwood Township School District. The first important event in Hazelwood's history may have been when Elijah Norris built his mill on the riverbank in 1840. This mill provided both economic stability for the community and employment for local residents; however, it also aroused competition from other mills around town which increased production by 10%. A more significant event occurred in 1872 when James C. Scott founded what would become St. Peters Episcopal Church (); this church helped solidify Hazelwood's reputation as a religious center withinStLouisCountyandsthestateofMissouri。 In 1907, after years of discussion among various officials withinStLouisCountyandMissouri,[4] Hazelwood became an unincorporated town underthe jurisdictionofHazelwoodschooldistrictinsteadofthe existing Jeffersonshiretownsheeting districtwhichwasdominatedbyMosesBibleChurchandotherfaith-based organizations.[5] The decision to form a school district was met with resistance from some residents who felt that they should remain responsible for their own education unimpeded by outside forces; nevertheless, this decision ultimately led to better educational opportunities for all citizens of Hazel wood Township including young people who had previously lacked access to these types of resources.[6]
