Hazelwood is located in the eastern part of Missouri, about 25 miles east of St. Louis. In 1839, the United States acquired this area from the French. The first settlers were the Holland family who arrived in 1841. The town was platted in 1845 and named after a small stream that ran through it. Hazelwood grew rapidly due to its location and became an important center for trade and commerce. It also attracted entrepreneurs who built businesses such as a gristmill, sawmill, carpenter shop, agricultural products store, shoe store, post office and several churches. Hazelwood experienced growth until the early 20th century when it began to Decrease in population due to industrialization and military service which caused jobs to become available elsewhere.
Hazelwood, Missouri is a small town located in the Ozarks of central Missouri. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. Hazelwood is named after a tree that grows in the town square. The town was founded in 1836 by General John Boggs and his family. The first post office opened in 1837. In 1839, General Boggs donated land to build a VillageSquare on which the present-day Hazelwood Square stands. The grant included an acre for each inhabitant and $1 per year thereafter until it was sold to the United States Government for $5,000 in 1861. In 1870, Captain Aventurius Hagler laid out a village on high ground east of what is now Hazelwood Square. This village became known as Hagler's Landing and changed its name to Hazelwood in 1893 when the railroad came through and built its tracks on what is now Main Street. When World War I began, Hazelwood drafted men into military service with compulsory military service lasting six months or one year depending on your age at the time (18-29). After hostilities ended, most of these soldiers returned home but some stayed behind to help rebuild various businesses destroyed during war such as Juglar Bakery where they worked day and night drying goods used by soldiers overseas; Alloys & Rubber Works; Carpenter & Joiner; Smith & Wesson Firearms Manufacturing Company; Hickory Coffee Shops; Hairdresser's Shop -operated by Mrs Gertrude Hebert from her home on High Street - and First National Bank operated by H C Beeson from his house on Second Street which are still standing today providing banking services to the community today. In 1924-1925 Judge Learned Hand delivered an address entitled "A Better Arkansas" before setting up law courts for all of northwest Missouri including parts of present-day Arkansas City and North Little Rock: "Hazelwood has been my home since 1922 when I moved here from St Louis." Judge Hand also organized civic clubs such as Sailing Squadron No 3 (founded 1921), Horticulture Club (founded 1926), Baseball League No 2 (founded 1927) among others which continue activities today including block club meetings held every other Saturday morning at 10am starting with breakfast at 9am sharp followed by member business meetings throughout their respective divisions culminating with dinner at 6pm

Hazelwood is a small town in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. It is the seat of Jackson County and lies at the junction of U.S. Route 64 and Missouri Route 5. The population was 3,567 as of the 2010 census. The first settlers in what is now Hazelwood were James Caldwell and his family who arrived around 1795. The Caldwells had been living in this area since they had emigrated from Scotland five years earlier. They named their new home "Hazel wood" after a local tree near their farmstead on Old Highway 60 east of St Joseph. In 1802, John Dickey settled here with his wife Anna (née Caldwell) and four children Lewis, Mary Jane (née Fenton), Christopher and Sally Ann (née Holmes). In 1819-20, Captain James Auld surveyor for the lower half of Jackson County designated two tracts of land along present-day US 64 to be used for farming purposes by future residents or their families; one tract went to John Easley and the other to Abraham Lincoln Jr.. On November 12, 1821 Hemantha Burden became Mrs. Abraham Lincoln when he married her sister Sarah Lincoln On October 1, 1830 William Jernigan built a log cabin on what is now corner of First Street South et al., just south of present day State Road 244 between Mayflower Avenue and Pleasant Grove Avenue On January 25, 1840 Lewis Coleman built a cabin on what's now corner of First Street South et al., just south of present day State Road 244 between Mayflower Avenue and Pleasant Grove Avenue In 1845-46 Ebenezer Henderson platted this township which included Hazelwood as its nucleus Hazelwoods post office was established on December 6th, 1865 Dutch Reformed Church was founded in 1865 by Rev Dr George Wesselius with about 30 members congregation grew quickly meeting in homes until church building could be funded . services were preached by Rev Wesselius himself then Rev Tilton until 1886 when German pastor Jurgen Pastor started services there also . Dutch Reformed School began operations in 1870 under teacher Lumanus Mueller till it closed in 1907 . Presbyterian Church organized June 15th1875 with Reverend C P Stephenson as first minister
