In 1978, Grandview, Missouri became the first city in Missouri to have a high-capacity conversion plant. The new plant was designed to convert large trucks and buses into passenger cars. The plant produced over 1 million vehicles a year and helped make Grandview the top city for car sales in Missouri. It also allowed the city to become one of the most important transportation hubs in the state.

The first settler in what would become Grandview was John Ford who arrived from Kentucky in 1827. He and his family homesteaded on the east side of present-day Grandview Blvd., about one mile northeast of the present-day courthouse square. Ford's grandson, Robert Witherspoon, built the first log cabin on what is now Third Street in 1851. Witherspoon also platted and named this location "Grandview." The first post office was established at "Grand View" on November 6, 1852 by James Hancey. In 1865, General Order No. 11 directed that all public buildings be destroyed within eight days because of an outbreak of yellow fever; Consequently, most of Old Grandview were abandoned during that year while much of Grandview Township (now part of St Louis) remained under cultivation and development until after World War II when it reverted to agricultural use again In 1870s a large number Irish immigrants settled here including Father Tom Doherty who became pastor for four decades before moving to Boston where he founded D’Olier Abbey Missionary Society In 1875 Reverend John Daly began work as a teacher at Immaculate Conception School then moved to this location which he called "Daly's Park" grand view blvd & 3rd street from 1861

In 1837, a group of businessmen and farmers in the town of Grandview decided to build a new courthouse. The first courthouse was built on the current site of the Grandview Library in 1838. The building served as the town's court house until 1861 when it was replaced by the present courthouse. The cornerstone for the present courthouse was laid on February 2, 1858 and construction began immediately. The original structure cost $4,500 and was designed by architect John W. Ferguson. On October 3, 1860, grand opening ceremonies were held for the new courthouse which featured speeches from Vice President James Buchanan and Circuit Judge Samuel Ladd. The building saw many events over its years including trials of war criminals and civil cases such as suits filed against local farmers. In 1903, an addition to the building was added which housed a law library and an auditorium. On October 1, 1907, due to budget cuts made by Governor William Atherton, grand opening ceremonies for the new library were cancelled due to rainstorms that had started earlier that day. In 1912, another addition to the building was added which housed aanger office and public works department. On July 1st 1916 during World War I - while fighting in France - two members of staff working at Grandview’s fire station were killed when their engine caught fire while driving back home after dinner; this event is still considered one of Missouri’s deadliest fires ever.On January 25th 1935 – just days after Franklin D Roosevelt took office as president – grand opening ceremonies for newly constructed state capitol were held in Jefferson City with speeches from Mr Fdr & Mrs Eleanor Roosevelt As part of his New Deal programs – FDR announced plans to improve education opportunities within Missouri through stimulus legislation called “The National Educational Progress Act” This act provided financial assistance up to $5 million towards improving schools throughout Missouri In 1957-1958 (post-World War II), major renovations were done inside/outside of both courthouses costing an estimated $27 million dollars total including reconstruction/remodeling of exterior walls/facades; replacement or rehabilitation/redevelopment/alteration of interior architecture; installation/replacement or enlargement (of some older systems)of modern air conditioning equipment; installation (of) videoics displays inside courthouses;;installation (of) security cameras inside courthouses;;the renovation also included installation (of) grassy areas around courthouses as well as suppression plantings along corridors leading into courthouses;; All these measures combined resulted in increased use bycourthouse detainees resulting in less noise levels inside courthsouses than previous years

In 1840, Grandview became a town and was named after General James K. Polk, who had been elected president that year. The town's population grew rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s, and it reached a peak of around 10,000 people in 1910. However, grandview's growth slowed during the 1930s and 1940s due to economic conditions that prevailed at the time. By 1950, however, GrandVIEW had recovered enough to become an incorporated city. The city's population continued to grow through the 1970s and 1980s until it peaked at around 25,000 people in 1990. However, because ofGrandview's prominence as a commercial center and its location on I-70/I-24 corridor], its population has since declined slightly over the past few decades.

In 1872, Marshall & Griggs bought the old Dowling's Drug Store and renamed it "Marshall's Hardware." From there until 1907, Marshall's Hardware was one of the largest stores in town with over two-dozen employees - many of whom were women! Over time, other businesses have entered into what has become known as "the hardware district" - including Dillard’s Department Stores (now Macy’s), Sears & Roebuck (now Kmart), and J Smeaton’s Clothing Company (now H&R Block). In 1906, grandstands were added to Grandview High School which allowed spectators to watch baseball games from their homes or locations near campus. To accommodate this growing audience, ground was broken on November 3rd for what would become home plate at Grandview Stadium - now known as LOFT Stadium! On October 14th 1912 – just three years after opening – grandstands replaced field goal posts at right field at Grandview Stadium which also served as home plate! With such popular events taking place both inside and outside of stadium headquarters each year – including state high school football championships two summers in a row – stadium officials decided it was time to update all equipment including seats! On July 25th 1916 they unveiled new benches which replaced those located behind centerfield! By 1920 several new buildings had been constructed on College Avenue between Main Street and Elmwood Drive: these included a library/tavern called The Gables (later changed to The turret) which served as central meeting place for city fathers; zoning hearings were held there frequently; brick kilns were started producing bricks used for flooring; steamboats moored along Center Boulevard near present day Interstate 70 provided entertainment during summer months; driving ranges adorned with targets dotting Center Boulevard throughout winter; electric lights began being installed circa 1925 downtown… Accordingly “The Hardware District” soon came to include many fine retail stores plus several big factories making cement walls etc., constituting today’s Third Ward area south of I-70 between State Road 606/Memorial Drive/I-435 Business Loop
