Additionally, there were no telephone poles or other obstructions standing in the way of businesses growing quickly thanks to excellent transportation options provided by railroads! By 1860s, when Grandview reached its present size*, things were already starting to change…the railroad industry had arrived!! Without any major obstacles*, businesses quickly started sprouting up all around town – including several breweries*!). However, other causes such as floods and railroad construction also contributed to its demise. Today, only a few buildings remain standing from when Grandview had a population of over 2,000 people. Located just north-northwest of St. Louis along Interstate 55 between Ferguson and Jennings Counties, Grandview is known for its large cedar trees that are still seen today in many homes throughout the community. In addition to its namesake tree - one located near Main Street - other landmarks include an old schoolhouse that still stands today and an Episcopal church built in 1892 which is still used for services today.
