Grain Valley is a small community in southeastern Missouri, located about 15 miles south of St. Louis. The town was founded in 1871 by farmers who arrived from Illinois and Wisconsin. As a farming community, Grain Valley had two main crops: corn and beans. However, since the early 20th century, gun targets have been a popular pastime for residents of Grain Valley. Grain Valley, Missouri is a small town in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,828 at the 2000 census. Grain Valley is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area and is home to two high schools: Holland High School and Grain Valley Jr./Sr High School. It also has a agricultural school which provides education for local farmers as well as students from neighboring towns in the valley. The community was founded in 1887 by Johnnie Davidson and his family after they began growing maize (corn) on their farmstead near present-day Grain Valley Elementary School. In 1889, James Hargrave donated land to the town for a public square and village hall. A post office was established in 1888, and mail service arrived from Topeka, Kansas via wagon train in 1890. By 1892, Grain Valley had a hotel, store, blacksmith shop/forge, doctor's office/hospitality cottage and Methodist church with a graveyard. In 1893-94 Cornish Fenton built a flour mill on Goudreau Creek for $2 per barrel of flour produced; this mill helped provide employment for many of the early settlers in what would become Grain Valley. In 1897-98 George Bigham gave generously to provide land for an educational institution - grain elevators were then being developed throughout America - within sight of his farmstead which still stands today across from Holland High School (now known as "GrainValley Jr./Sr."). Grain Valley first saw regular bus service starting on February 14th 1978 when Lambert Road & Highway 6 were re-numbered due to road construction just north of town along that route at that time; buses continued operating until October 15th 1978 when all routes were withdrawn because of budget cuts resultant from economic recession at that time (#1). That same year (1978), pioneer Lillie Beaumont died leaving four children under age 10 years old who would have to help run her estate while she spent her final days living ashore at Clearwaterport Marina; these youngsters would eventually attend nearby Clearwaterport Junior/SeniorHigh School where they currently reside (#2). Today's amenities include several grocery stores - most notably Safeway - as well as restaurants including Danforth's Billiards & Grill and The Grille (both located inside Holland High School), all three having been opened within the past five years making it one ofKCMO's newest communities overall (#3)! There are also numerous retail businesses scattered throughout the village center such as dry cleaners/laundries etc., plus banks which serve both locals and visitors alike! Furthermore there is always something happening either athletic or cultural significance related to agriculture or food any given day during Sharon Day Farmers' Market season!

In 1926, the Briggs family moved their grocery store to an new building on Main Street. That building still stands today as the town hall. The town of Grain Valley experienced some growth during World War II. There was an increase in population due to the war and increased demand for food products. The economy boomed during the war because of all of the soldiers who came through town looking for work. In 1954, Grain Valley became a city when it was granted city status by Missouri state government. It has since grown even more and now has a population of over 25,000 residents! The city has many cultural attractions, such as its annual farmers market which is one of the largest in Missouri and attracts tens of thousands of people every year!
Grain Valley was founded in 1836 by the brothers Isaac and Solomon Griggs. The first store in Grain Valley was built on the current site of the Griggs house. The Griggs brothers were instrumental in helping to develop Grain Valley as a commercial center for central Missouri. They also developed a large farmstead which still stands today. The Griggs familyoperated their grocery store and farmstead until 1958 when it closed due to economic difficulties. Today, the property remains vacant and is used as a park.
