In 1865, when Kansas Territory was organized, Gladstone became part of that territory; however, it did not become an incorporated municipality until 1907 when it joined Springfield as an unincorporated community within Maydots County boundaries In 1916, when Missouri Statehood Act went into effect, Gladstone became one of its six towns subject to state regulation under section 3(a) of that act; however, it reverted back to its original status as an unincorporated community after Repeal (1996) As one result ofRepeal (1996), Gladstonians had their right to vote restored after more than three decades absence following passage of Amendment 2 which reinstated voting rights for felons who have served their sentences . According to the United States Census Bureau's 2013 estimate,[1] there were 1,870 people residing in Gladstonian households
