It was known as "The Gutter." In 1847, a group of men from Fulton formed the First National Rifle Association and began shooting at gun targets out of their home. They were successful and soon started hosting tournaments at their home. The popularity of target shooting led to the establishment of other businesses that manufactured and distributed gun targets. These businesses included The Hogshead Shooters' Shop, which operated from 1906-1974; The Rifleman's NRA Club shop from 1909-1967; and Gun Target Manufacturing Company from 1912-1970. Today, there are several tourist attractions located in Fulton that offer guided tours of historical targets including The Gutter, which is still regularly used as a target range today; Second Amendment Museum - also located in Fulton - where visitors can learn about America's history with firearms; and Parker Place Shooting Grounds - also located in Fulton - which is now home to both an indoor range (the Schofield Range) and outdoor driving range (the Simonds Range).

Fulton is a small town in Greene County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,914 at the 2010 census. It lies on the northwestern edge of the county and borders Clay County to the east. Fulton was founded in 1836 by John Fulton and his wife Susannah Gentry. The name was chosen because it sounded like "freeze". In 1839, Fulton added a schoolhouse to its original plat and named it after General James K. Polk's victory over Mexican forces at San Jacinto in 1846. In 1847, the town had a population of 100 people and built a gristmill using water from nearby Clear Creek. The first store in Fulton opened in 1850. By 1860, there were six stores in Fulton with an average of two per day. A post office was established at Fulton in 1865 and remained open until 1978; it was then moved to Clay County. The population of Fulton peaked at 2,611 persons in 1930 but fell to 1,827 by 1990 due to World War II veterans returning home and other factors such as economic decline; this number has since recovered slightly to 1,911 as of 2010 In 1940, Colonel Ralph Jentz (USA) donated land for what is now Eastern Illinois University; this event helped spark an area economy that has been based largely on agriculture ever since There are several museums located within or near downtown Fulton:the Post Office Museum (now part of MOIHP),the National Register-listed Western Towne House Museum (now part of IHLP),and the American Heritage Place - Red river Valley Branch Library whichopened its doors on July 8th 2009- displaying items from central Missouri taken from abandoned mineshafts around Springfield Mo along with period furnishings from various parts of America . There are also several restaurants located within or near downtown including Piggly Wiggly BBQ & Deli which opened its doorsin 2006 adjacent to MOIHP and Downtown Diner serving up delicious local cuisine all week long

Fulton was a small town in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 599 at the 2000 census. It is now a ghost town. The first inhabitants of Fulton were the Kents and their families who lived on the east side of the river until 1815 when they moved to what is now known as Park City. In 1836, John Fitch founded a ferry service from Fulton to St. Louis which became very popular because it allowed passengers to avoidriver crossings during the harsh winter months. In 1839, George Stephenson built a steamboat navigation channel through Fulton and rapids on the river made it much more difficult for goods and passengers to get across. However, this did not stop people from trying; by 1840 there were over 100 boats using Fulton's navigation channels! In 1848, Jno. Aiken established an ice cream business in Fulton which continued until 1870 when he bought land near present-day Springfield and started farming there. This innovative business led to early development in Springfield as well; Aiken's farm became one of the first businesses in that city! Today only traces of what once was Fulton remain; most notably its small cemetery where many local residents died during World War II while serving in military units or shipping companies overseas (many continue to lie buried there today).
