Upon learning of this change Mayor Titchie called a news conference wherein he outlined changes having been made with respect to roofing including permitting costs overruns occasioned by unforeseen failure etc... On January 16th 1934 City Manager Clyde Bray came into office and upon their arrival pronounced that work should now commence immediately without further delay due largely to lack of proper permits/authorization etc... Work proceeded apace with much public criticism ensuing at what became know as The Builders' Strike although ultimately no damage resulted beyond normal wear and tear associated with building activities ever since! As mentioned earlier many buildings still stand today such as Government House (now known as The Countess Hotel), First National Bank Building (now occupied by JCPenney), Pecan Lodge (now used for storage) among others including both original pre-existing structures components & additionals not mentioned previously! Prior thereto many churches such as Methodist Episcopal Church were also erected or reconstructed during this time period some remain extant today like Baptist Reformed Church (& Cemetery) & Second Presbyterian Church (& Cemetery). So too has documentation continued unchanged throughout these years such as fire insurance records keptdating backto1875 continuing uninterrupted even though most businesses closed during this period! In 1853, the town became part of St. Louis County and was renamed Florissant Heights. In 1916, the county merged with St. Louis City to form St. Louis County again and the name was changed back to Florissant.
