Florissant, Missouri is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 27,812 at the 2010 census. The Florissant metropolitan area has a population of 509,711. Florissant is the county seat of St. Louis County and home to the University of Saint Louis and several other high-tech businesses as well as many small businesses. The city is also known for its high quality of life and its friendly atmosphere which can be found in everything from the architecture to the people. The town was founded by John Tichenor in 1847 on land he acquired from the Pea Ridge Indians after they had killed his father-in-law and his brother-in-law while hunting near Florissant Creek. Tichenor named his new town after himself and moved his family there in 1849. By 1870, when Florissant became part of St. Louis County, it had a population of 12,000 residents and was home to two banks and one paper mill; however, all these industries ceased operations by 1924 because of shrinking markets for cotton products around STLs downtown core (and elsewhere). In 1926 the City Council designated Forest Park as Florissant's new park following an outcry from citizens who saw their city center being turned into open fields ripe with development potential! This led to much speculation about what would happen if Forest Park were ever developed—would it become another suburban sprawl or would there be something special happened here that could make it stand out? It finally happened! In 1978 Forest Park was annexed into Florissant Heights through annexation proceedings which increased its size by over 60%. However even with annexations came growth pains; shops opened up but couldn't keep up with demand for goods due to lack of parking lot space; services like plumbing and garbage disposal didn't arrive until later years (ceiling fans are still popular souvenirs today!!); but overall things have been going pretty good since then! Now that we know a little more about how some parts have changed since Annexation day let's move on down memory lane!!! 1) World War I: Although not directly related toFlorissant during this time period it did take place nearby including owner John Tichenor’s experience living close enough so those affected can b e heard 2) Prohibition: After America’s entry into World War I prohibition took hold throughout most southern Missouri While efforts were made by some local officials to legalize beer sales starting in 1919–1920 due largely to shortages caused by military draft dodgers However eventually this failed too as bootlegging became very profitable especially given legal loopholes 3) African American Migration: Many black men left farm work behind when prohibition ended in 1933 pour seek better opportunities elsewhere such as StL where jobs were plentiful at newly formed companies like Ford Motors etc 4) “Golden Age”ofStL Manufacturing: 1930–1939 During this time period StL experienced rapid economic growth thanks largely to expanding auto production plants set up specifically for automotive manufacturing such as those now located at White Flint Arsenal

However, there are still some remnants of earlyFlorissant life today: the local grocery store remains open (though not very often), and there is a small museum located within walking distance of most buildings that displays artifacts from the town's history.

In 1838, Florissant had its first schoolhouse and many businesses were started in the town. By 1860, Florissant had a population of 100 people and two post office buildings. After numerous changes in ownership over the years, Florissant came under control of a group of investors in 1898 who renamed it "St. Louis". During World War I,Florissant's citizens supported the war effort by working on munitions plants. In 1925, St. Louis merged with other cities to form Greater St. Louis (later known as Missouri).
