Gun Protection History in Florissant, Missouri began with the first firearms being sold in the town on December 2nd, 1836. One soldier died instantly while another was shot three times. This event is considered one of the most violent days in Florissant’s history. In 1853, Florissant passed an ordinance banning handguns for all residents over the age of 21 years old because it felt that this would help reduce crime rates. After much discussion and debate within the community, it was decided that handguns should only be possessed by law enforcement officials or those who could prove that they were necessary for safety reasons. On Valentine’s Day 1865, two men named John Hickey and Samuel Biddle fatally shot four people at an institution called “The Meadows” located nearFlorissant Cemetery when they mistook it for a hunting ground owned by Hickey’s brother-in-law (the official document says he killed them because he wanted revenge against his brother). This act is still regarded as one of the deadliest shootings in Florissant’s history

Florissant, Missouri is a city in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 3,569 at the 2010 census. Florissant is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The first residents of Florissant were pioneers who arrived in the early 1800s. They built a cabin on a bluff overlooking the lower river and began farming their land. In 1836, they formed the Florissant School District and named their town after General James K. Polk's home state of Florida. The town was originally called "Lake City" because it was near Clearwater Lake. When Kansas became an independent country in 1907, Florissant lost its status as a school district and reverted to Jackson County ownership. However, it regained its town status in 1921 when it annexed parts of nearby Ironton Township (now Thalia). In 1925, Florissant became one of three cities within the new St Louis–Kansas City metropolitan area; it remained that way until 1975 when it merged with Kansas City to form MO-KS-AMT (MO-Kans-ARL). The original downtown main street was renamed Main Street West in honor of Mayor John Lennon following his assassination by John F Kennedy on November 12, 1968. In 1969, construction began on what would become America's second largest shopping center when Kemper National Bank moved into space vacated by Sears Holdings Corporation's Roaring Fork Shopping Center across from Interstate 70/Upper I-435 east of downtown Florissant

For example, New York became one of the first statesto pass a registration requirements for handguns back in 1938; California followed suit shortly thereafter (Lopez v Mclntyre). As a result, the three Union soldiers were shot and killed before they could reach safety.
