The first type of ammunition used in America was shot putt balls which were made from small lead balls with a hard rubber coating. Shot putt balls were very effective for teach children how to shoot. They could also be used for target practice or militia drills. By 1821, cannonball shot had been developed which was launched from a cannon by pressing a round into the ball then pulling it back out again. This type of ammunition was more powerful than shot putt balls and became popular among European countries which led to its introduction into America. In 1833, rifle rounds were developed which consisted of silver Bullets that would travel at high speeds through the air and hit their targets successfully. Rifle rounds became increasingly important during the American Civil War because they could kill enemy soldiers much easier than hand-to-hand combat methods such as swords or shotguns

Today, there is only a handful of remaining businesses that produce firearms or ammo in the town - most notably Richardson Armory which produces pistols and rifles as well as reloading supplies and tools.

It has been used as a police station ever since. The population of Festus grew to over 20,000 by 1960 and it continues to grow today with over 30,000 residents living within its boundaries. Festus is known for its carnival atmosphere which dates back to 1882 when organizers began planning the festival which would become one of the largest annual events on the East Coast of America. Each year since then, more than 100 different types of entertainment are available for spectators including rides, games and shows from various businesses and organizations throughout downtown."
Festus was a small town in southern Illinois before the American Civil War. It was located on the border of Boone and Scott counties, about 25 miles south of Springfield. The town had a population of only 100 residents when it was burned by Confederate forces on April 12, 1861.
