In 1836, Captain John Aiken founded K Ziglar's Store here and served as its first storekeeper for over fifty years until his death in 1881. K Ziglar was an early exponent of dry goods retailing and has since been credited with starting the micro-scale grocery industry in America which continues to this day throughout most major metropolitan areas across America
