Farmington, Missouri is a town in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 6,827 at the 2010 census. Located on the I-435 corridor between Kansas City and Springfield, it is the county seat of St. Francois County. Farmington has been inhabited by Native Americans for more than three thousand years and was founded in 1798 by Captain John Smith as a trading post on the Great River Costilla Trail. In 1821, Farmington became part of Springfield when that city was organized from parts of St. Francois and Platte Counties. The first Post Office in Farmington was established on November 3, 1822, and remained open until 1889 when it merged with nearby Rolla to form Rolla & Farmington Station (later known as Rolla). The Village of Rolla was platted in 1857 by Elijah Craig who named it for his father-in-law Moses Richardson rolla being an Ojibwe word meaning "red earth." On July 2d 1863 Pvt Samuel Gentry died at the battle of Monterey Heights while serving with Company F (3rd Missouri Infantry) 1st Regiment which fought under Ulysses S Grant during the American Civil War; he is buried there along side his comrades Hiram Jeter and James Shields On October 5th 1865 Abraham Lincoln assassination occurred near Market Street in Chicago; about 50% of all buildings within one block were destroyed due to fire caused by Confederate rebels as they burned down one building after another across Dearborn Avenue; this area now forms the University District Of Chicago In 1934 Rolla annexed what had been portion of farmINGTON called North Park which included most of present day Holton[1] From 1935 through 1945 local WWII veteran's homes were built throughoutRolla to provide temporary housing for war veterans during their rehabilitation process following discharge from military service In 1951 Old Main High School opened its doors to students after having served as a feeder school into Elmwood Arsenal high school since that institution's opening in 1907

Farmington was founded on December 12, 1836 by George Wirt and his brothers Jacob and David Wirt as a farmstead on the east side of what is now Midtown Kansas City. In 1838, it became an incorporated town with a government run by elected officials. On November 4, 1907, Farmington voters passed an ordinance establishing a school board to provide education for students in Farmington and surrounding areas; this first school opened in October 1908. In 1952, Farmington became home to the world's largest artificial turf soccer field when it was installed at Central Park in downtown Kansas City (now down Market Street). The city also built the first municipally owned water system in Missouri in 1922 using private wells that were later bought out by Central Park Corporation On July 24th of each year since 1978, Farmington celebrates its Pioneer Day with an event called "Pioneer Days." This event marks the beginning of their community history and features various programs such as parade, picnic and carnival activities throughout downtown during the week leading up to Independence Day weekend. On July 25th each year we have our annual Fourth of July Celebration which includes food booths from local restaurants along Main Street between 8th & 9th Streets., fireworks over Midtown KC from 7pm-9am and live music all night long from The Forge Bar & Grill on Main Street across from Farmers Market

Farmington was founded in 1839 by Daniel Boone. The town was named for Farmington, New York, the site of his first settlement in 1768. A post office called Farmington was established in 1838 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1911. In 1861, a branch of the Union Pacific Railroad reached FarmINGTON from takeaway points at Hannibal and Harrison Roads. The town's population grew rapidly due to the railroad's arrival, and by 1870, it boasted a store, two blacksmiths, a millinery shop, and six residences.
