Today, agricultural production remains a majorstayofthetown's economy with crops such as corn (maize), beans (Spanish beans), tomatoes (Lyonnaise tomato sauce) and cheese made from milk from cows or pigs that graze on hay or straw on their properties. Additionally industry includes two machine shops operated by Checker Milling Company Incorporated which manufactures parts for tractor engines throughout Missouri including parts for Ford tractors as well as other machines used by farmers throughout Missouri including disk jockeys used by farmers for cutting hay etc.), three local banks (First National Bank/Kansas City Trust Co., Farmers National Bank/Granger Savings & Loan Association - now occupied by Citizens Bank - former First Midwest Bank) along with several smaller businesses providing services such as taxi companies or janitorial services inside or outside Farmer's National Bank building where live music is Fridays night beginning at 9pm until 2am
