In 1923, Excelsior Arms & Holsters merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company which also manufactured firearms and shotguns under one umbrella. It is interesting to note that Winchester Repeating Arms Company was founded by two brothers who were friends - Sam Winchester and John Butler Winchester III. This merger allowed both companies to grow together while still keeping their separate identities intact. This merger also led to the creation of what is now known as Excelsior Springs Armory LLC which continues to produce firearms today.
Excelsior Springs is a small town in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. Excelsior Springs is known for its flower and fruit gardens, as well as its community center which opened in 1907. The first settler in what is now Excelsior Springs was John Pritchard who arrived in 1837. He named his settlement after Excelsior Falls on the Missouri River which he saw from a distance while travelling through the area on horseback. In 1843, David Hays established a gristmill here and started to trade flour and other goods with surrounding settlements. By 1870, there were 5 stores in Excelsior Springs with a total population of around 100 people. In 1907, the community center was built by Mrs. Cady Maynard and her husband Drury Jaffray as part of their charitable efforts to promote civic engagement within their small community during an era when many towns did not have such amenities available to their residents. Excelsior Springs is a small town in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,496 at the 2010 census and it is part of the Springfield, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Excelsior Springs was founded in 1839 by Isaac Newton Sims as a small community on the east bank of the Arkansas River. In 1854, Excelsior Springs became an incorporated village and in 1907 it was renamed to its current name after Sir John A. Macdonald, Prime Minister of Canada from 1908-1914. The first people to settle in what is now Excelsior Springs were French Canadians who came from present day Quebec City in 1796. They built cabins along the banks of the Arkansas River and named their settlement "Esquimalt". The first post office called Excelsior Springs "Aurora" because of its high altitude (Aurora Peak is located just north of town). In 1839, Isaac Newton Sims set up a store at what is now Park Street and started trading goods with Native Americans for food and other items he could not find near his home on the east bank of the Arkansas River. In 1840, he built a cabin on this site which still stands today as part of downtown Excelsior Springs. By 1854, there were twelve homes in all withSims continuing to trade goods with Native Americans until his death in 1850 at age 62 years old. From then until 1907 when it changed names to "Excelsior Springs", Excelsior Spring's economy relied heavily on agriculture due to its fertile soil and easy access to water resources needed for crop cultivation; however this has gradually changed over time as more businesses have moved into town including several health care clinics over the past few decades which have helped contribute to its strong economy today! In 1907 when it changed names to "Excelsior Springs", many residents decided that they wanted their name associated with something other than simply farming or fishing since they considered themselves descendants of English colonists who had come here centuries earlier than most others within Missouri!
