Excelsior Springs, Missouri is a small town in the Ozarks of central Missouri. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield-Springfield County census-designated place. Named for General James Wilkinson who fought with General Andrew Jackson at Haines's Mill on the Tennessee River in 1814, Excelsior Springs became a local center for education and industry during its early days as a frontier town.
