For many years there wasn't even a schoolhouse within five miles of CreveCoeur so folks would go into nearby Independence or Liberty for education! It wasn’t until 1925 when architect George Bridgwater designed and erected the first building which still stands today as part of CreveCoeur Community Hall Museum! This single building served as both schoolhouse and library until it burned down during World War II while being used as an air raid shelter! After being rebuilt following fire damage it reopened again in 1963 under the auspices of then Mayor Joe Ferguson before closing again in 1985 due largely to budget cuts however it has been vacant ever since!!
