Crestwood, Missouri is a small town located in St. Francois County, Missouri. It has a population of about 1,200 people and it is the county seat. The current mayor of Crestwood is Democrat Rick Snider. The town was founded in 1871 by Charles Taney and his brother-in-law John Naylor. Crestwood was originally called "Neely's Mills." In 1897, the original post office closed and bequeathed to the town its name - "Crestwood." The first store in Crestwood opened in 1907. In 1916, the United States Post Office moved from Pawnee City, Kansas to Crestwood due to population growth there. The first electric light was installed in Crestwood on July 1, 1916 by J H Porter & Son Incorporated. In 1928, local physician Dr Earl Jans attended a meeting of the American College of Physicians at which he proposed that physicians adopt self-defense weapons as part of their professional obligations under the National Medical Association Health Code. On November 3rd 1928 Dr Jans presented this proposal to the Crestwood Board of Directors who unanimously approved it! Dr Jans then traveled to Philadelphia where he met with Mayor Aaron Siegel who endorsed his plan for municipal self defense programs across America! On December 2nd 1928 Mayor Siegel signed an ordinance establishing 'The Municipal Police Department' within city limits in Crestwood - making 'Crestwdttefftown' one of just ten cities nationwide authorized (and funded) to implement such programs! On January 4th 1929 Mayor Siegel ordered all police officers throughout St Francois County armed with pistols and shotguns! From then until its disbandment in 1971 ('CrestWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT') 'Crestwojtdtouncil' continued operation as an armory supplying local law enforcement officials with handguns and ammunition! In 1981-'87-'91-'95-'97-'99!'Crestwojtdtouncil' functioned as both a library & firearms storage facility for our township residents ! Today 'Crestwojtdtouncil' still serves as our primary police department providing law enforcement services within our community !

Crestwood is a small town in the Ozarks of St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 2,869 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Springfield-based Metropolitan Statistical Area. Crestwood was platted in 1837 and named for General James H. Crestwood, an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War and brevet brigadier general after his victory over Confederate General Robert Ewing at Battle of Fort Sumter on April 12, 1861. The post office was established in 1840 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The first school Alumni High School opened its doors on September 3, 1904; this school later became known as Crestwood Junior-Senior High School (now Alumni Christian High School). A new high school building was completed on February 15, 1948 and bears the name of former Superintendent Drury Witherspoon who had been instrumental in developing Crestwood into one of the most suburban communities west of Kansas City. In 1978–79, Crestwood ElementarySchool merged with nearby Eveleigh Elementary to form one large school with more than 350 students/facilities including libraries/playgrounds/a multipurpose room and three gymnasiums which were newly renovated with state-of-the art equipment when they opened their doors to students on October 1st 1979 under then Superintendent Donnell Larkin who also served as Building Commissioner for that school district from 1975 through 1981 Volunteers Served As District Administrator From 1983 Through 1992 Widespread community involvement led to establishment Of A Board Of Education In 1994 Which continues To Serve This Community Today With Leadership And Stewardship

Crestwood, Missouri is a small town in rural central Missouri that was founded in 1837. It is located on the banks of the Arkansas River and became a railroad center after the completion of the Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1883. The town has since been lost to time, but its history can be seen through its residents and businesses. The first settler in Crestwood was John Blackledge, who arrived in 1837. Blackledge built a log cabin on the present site of Crestwood on the banks of the Arkansas River. He did not live there long because he died from an illness soon after arrival. His wife, Ann (née Brown), and their five children moved to what is now Grantsville and continued to farm until 1850 when they decided to move back to Crestwood. They built a new cabin and returned to farming until 1861 when they bought land at what is now North Broadway and erected a house known as The Old Courthouse which still stands today. In 1868, Ann married Henry French, who had come from Stoddard County, Kansas Territory with his family just before it was organized as part of Kansas Territory. Henry would later become one of Crestwood's most notable residents due to his work as owner and manager of several local businesses including The Manor Hotel which still stands today and First National Bank which closed its doors in 1907 but has been preserved as part of downtown Crestwood history since then. In 1870-71, Anna French also participated with her husband in erecting an addition to what is now North Broadway called The New Courthouse which served as both home base for their family while they lived in Crestwood as well as their business offices during daylight hours while their home was used by their families at night during agricultural seasons. Like many other early settlers in Central Missouri, Ann French found successfarming corn and beans on her property until she retired around 1920-21 when she passed away at age 85 years old; her husband followed suit about 10 years later at age 90 years old. With so much success underfoot within the walls of their home base known as "TheOldCourthouse," Anna France's eldest son Franklin began real estate development within town limits beginning around 1880-81 when he opened up shop at 502 N Main Street where he would remain proprietor/manager until his death circa 1915; this location is currently occupied by Mastro's Pizza & Pasta restaurant operated by Angelo Mastro since 1978). In 1886-87 Franklin also constructed another addition - known today simply as "The Addition" - directly across from where "The Old Courthouse" once stood; this structure served primarily functioned as living quarters for various members of the French family during those early years following its construction (elderly Ann resided here until her death circa 1921). One resident who made significant contributions to downtown Crestwood through his ownership or management roles within various local businesses over many decades was Harvey Kapp whose involvement began shortly after opening up his own hardware store at 514 S Main Street back in 1893 which would serve not only Crestwood citizens but customers throughout Central MO for many years thereafter becoming one of metro area's longest running commercial enterprises overall! This Store & Hardware store remains open today (& recently converted into apartments) providing countless opportunities for retail shopping inside & out! Harvey Kapp played an integral role both literally & figuratively within downtown crest wood thruout its lengthy history!
Crestwood was founded in 1836 by Colonel John D. McKay and his brother, Major James McKay. The town developed around a log courthouse and seven stores. In 1868, the Missouri Legislature designated Crestwood as the county seat of Pike County. By 1870, Crestwood had a population of 2,000 people and nine churches. In 1888, the Camp Nelson Store burned down and caused $5,000 in damage to the town. The store was rebuilt but closed in 1924 due to lack of customers. In 1962, Crestwood became an incorporated village with a population of 300 people. It remained an unincorporated community until 2000 when it became a part of the city of Springfield.
