Crestwood is a town in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Crestwood was David Herrington who arrived in 1836. In 1865, John and Anna Thayer settled there and raised five children: John (1865-1951), Anna (1867-1945), Walter (1869-1946), Dorothy (1871-1960) and Melody (born December 26, 1873). The family later moved to Sikeston whenWalter became an farmer. In 1907, Reverend Wm Hargrave founded the First Methodist Episcopal Church in Crestwood. In 1941, Crestwood was merged with neighboring Sikeston into one municipality. After World War II ended, many residents left to join other municipalities due to economic hard times. However, some residents decided to stay and continue making a living off their land which they had since purchased from the local government. Today it still remains an agricultural center with a large corn crop and cattle ranching operation as well as many small businesses that operate within the town limits

Crestwood, Missouri is a small town in the Clearwater County area of Missouri. The population was 1,145 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. Crestwood was first settled in 1839 and became a town on July 24, 1868. The name "Crestwood" comes from an Indian word meaning "haunted wood." The first post office in Crestwood was established on November 15, 1840. A store and hotel were built in 1870 and operated until 1878. In 1881, what is now Crestwood Elementary School opened as a public school for students from the surrounding rural areas. By 1920, Crestwood had become an important agricultural center with over 10 stores and 300 acres of land devoted to corn production. During World War II, many civilians worked at various military bases located in or near Crestwood; these workers helped to support local agriculture during wartime when food prices soared due to rationing by the Allies. The population of Crestwood declined following World War II but has begun to rise again in recent decades due to new housing developments along Highway 61 which have attracted businesses and people who appreciate its peaceful atmosphere and good schools (see below). Today's crestwoods are home to about 850 residents who live close together within walking distance of each other inside city limits while also having access to numerous cultural attractions such as museums, art galleries, churches and parks located just outside city boundaries that offer evening strolls through old mill districts or enjoyed day trips into adjacent towns such as Lenexa or Overland Park which have similar climates with easy access to shopping malls nearby (see List of Towns Within Kansas City Metropolitan Area). During the late 1800s-early 1900s there were several small communities near Wichita called Napanee Village after General John Pemberton's defeated Mexican army at Battle Of Monterrey on October 14th 1846 near present day Wichita Falls Texas - this battle resulted in Mexico ceding all US territory east of Arkansas including present day Wichita County including most of Kansas City proper - today much acreage still remains both within Wichita Falls city limits & within Topeka & Shawnee National Forest boundaries
Crestwood was founded in 1868 by J.P. Howell and Wm. C. Pratt as a small farming community on the bank of the Illinois River. The first post office was established in 1870, and the first store opened in 1872. In 1902, Crestwood became a town and was named after its founder, J.P. Howell. The population of Crestwood grew to over 1,000 by 1910; during World War I, the town served as an airfield for the United States Army Air Service; and following the war, Crestwood experienced growth as a bedroom community for St Louis County. By 1970, Crestwood had declined to 400 citizens and had ceased all commercial activity; however, it remains a residential community with some agriculture operations still conducted in various parts of the village today
