The Crestwood Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1892. The club enjoyed a long and successful history until the late 1920s when it was forced to disband because of gun control regulations.
Crestwood is a small town in west-central Missouri, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded on a farmstead in 1831 by John and Elizabeth (Lang) Crestwood. It was named for its ridge of high hills that can be seen from many miles around. Crestwood had a post office from 1832 to 1865. Crestwood has three schools: Crestwood Intermediate School, Crestwood High School, and Eastern Mennonite Academy. The elementary school closed in 2006; the middle school opened in 2007 as an all-girls school; and the high school reopened in 2009 as an all-boys school. "Crestoode," published by Houghton Mifflin Company in 1901 noted "a well known miller who has been proprietor of this place since 1824." One hundred years later, "the local paper" reported "the millinery business is still very strong with several firms employing about fifty women." In recent decades several businesses have closed including two banks and one grocery store but much remains unchanged such as the large shopping center on Main Street which includes a variety of stores including Sears & Roebuck, JCPenney, Macy's, Kmart and Dick's Sporting Goods among others as well as a few restaurants including Subway and Carl's Jr./Grill which are open late into the night.

Crestwood, Missouri is a small town in the Ozark Mountains of west-central Missouri. It was founded in 1849 by General James K. Polk and his wife Clara, along the banks of the Arkansas River. The population was 1,043 at the 2010 census. Crestwood is on U.S. Route 66 (the main east-west road in central Missouri) just south of I-70 exit 114A/exit 116A and north of US Highway 362 (one of the few remaining rural routes in central Missouri). The original homesteads were located on a knoll overlooking the river that still stands today. In 1851, General Polk donated land to build a post office and courthouse which was first called "Polkville". In 1863, when Confederate Lieutenant Colonel John Tipton surrendered at Appomattox Court House near Crestwood, he asked for water to be delivered to him so he could drink it and thereby avoid being captured by Union forces. A wagonload of watermelons from nearby Poplar Bluff was brought into town and distributed among local residents who then boiled them down for drinking purposes. In 1868, over 100 people came together to form what would become Crestwood's first schoolhouse which opened its doors on December 3rd according to local legend On February 2nd 1870, leaders from all over Central Missouri gathered at Fort Sumner where they formed an organization known as The National Guard Provisional Brigade under command of Major General Lafayette Reynolds organized with men drawn from many surrounding towns including Crestwood After two months train travel across country they arrived at Independence Barracks March 7th 1870 . From there they marched northeastward through Springfield until reaching Liberty Hall April 9th where they surrendered unconditionally . This event has been celebrated annually ever since as "The Liberation Of Crestwood" In 1893, part of crest wood became home to one of St Louis' first electric lights while other parts continued their tradition cattle drive days such as Sunday dinners outdoors served with bread pudding or ham hocks frying in open fires until evening
Crestwood was founded in 1836 by Captain George Washington Smith. The town Narrows-on-the- Missouri River, now part of Kansas City, was named for Crestwood. In the early 1840s, Crestwood became a stop on the Overland Stage Line and grew to be a small town with over 100 residents. By 1870, Crestwood had become a full city and it continued to grow until it reached its current size in 1920.
