The business started out as a small shop run by Gentry and his wife, Mildred. Originally, Crestwood used local woods as its production site and printed its own magazines. However, demand for their products led them to open a printing plant in 1978 in Springfield, MO which they continue to use today. Today, Crestwood Gun Mags produces around seventy different magazine rounds per week and employs over 500 people worldwide. In 1934, Crestwood began hosting its own high school football championship game which would be held every year until 1957 when Stroudsburg High School moved into that stadium and started sponsoring that event In 1983, Crestwood opened its own shopping mall called 'Crestwood Plaza'; this mall hosted several major retail storesincluding Sears Holdings Roebuck & Co., JCPenney Inc., Macy's Inc., Kmart Corporation and Farberware Industries among others before closing down in 1994 following numerous store closings throughout Missouri due to competition from larger malls across town

The first permanent settler in Crestwood was John Denton in 1836. Denton and his family were among the original settlers of Jackson County. He built a log cabin on a hill overlooking Crestwood Lake in 1838. A post office called Crestwood was established in 1839, and remained operation until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1860, Nathan Beardsley settled near what is now Crestwood Lake. Beardsley operated a gristmill on the stream that flows through Crestwood village until it closed during the Great Depression. In 1896, Wm Hite built a sawmill and lumberyard just east of crest wood Village limits which still stands today as one of the oldest businesses in town. During World War I (1914-18), large quantities of aluminum were produced at nearby Alcoa Works; aluminum prices escalated following the war and production stopped early because of high demand from U.S. military troops equipped with new aluminum weapons
Crestwood was founded in 1834 by Isaac Newton and his wife Rachel. The first settler in Crestwood were two families from Kentucky, the Hensons and the Jordans. Isaac Newton was a wagoner and landowner who started the town on a small lot near where he lived. In 1839, Isaac Newton marriedRachel, who had come to Missouri with her family from Kentucky. Crestwood grew quickly and by 1840 there were over 60 residents. In 1850, Crestwood became a county seat after it was chosen as the site of an election for that purpose. In 1861, Confederate General Robert Ewell's army invaded Missouri during the American Civil War and many people in Crestwood chose not to support the Confederacy. After the war ended, many of these citizens decided to return home and rebuild their homes. Many businesses were established in Crestwood during this time including a millinery shop, grist mill, grocery store, post office, blacksmith shop and bank. The population peaked at around 300 in 1950 but has since declined significantly due to various factors such as gentrification etc..
