Crestwood, Missouri was once a thriving community with gun magazines located throughout the town. The first gun magazine in Crestwood was established in 1872 and it served as the nucleus of what would become the now defunct National Firearms Association. Throughout its years, National Firearms Association had an extensive library system which housed more than 1,000 volumes on arms and ammunition. In 1934, National Firearms Association merged with the American Rifleman to form the modern-day NRA. This merger created a new entity that possessed greater resources and support from both organizations. As part of this newly formed organization, NRA began developing a strategic plan for their future growth. This plan called for NRA to begin expanding into new markets and regions around the country. In addition to this expansion strategy, NRA also developed plans for outreach programs across all social media platforms in order to increase public awareness of firearms safety issues. In 1978, following passage of the Brady Bill (named after then-Senator James A.) Brady),gun magazines in Crestwood were required by law to be closed down due to increasing regulation from state legislatures across America. At this point though, gun magazines continued to exist primarily within individual homes or businesses within Crestwood’s limits; however they were not considered “licensed dealers” under federal law and were not subject to any financial regulations like those applied to licensed firearm dealers operating inside of cities or counties). Following passage of the Protection Against Assault Weapons Act (PAAW) in 1994, various state legislatures began passing similar laws which effectively banned all forms of gun magazines except those operated by federally licensed firearm dealers (LFDs). These changes meant that many gun magazines existing within Crestwood no longer had any legal recourse should they be impacted by local government enforcement efforts at any time hereafter; consequently they ceased operations on or around September 9th 1994.

Crestwood is a town in southern Missouri, located about 25 miles (40 km) east of St. Louis on I-70. The population was 2,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Saint Louis metropolitan area. The first Europeans to arrive in Crestwood were two Dutch farmers, Hendrick and Joris van der Merwe, who settled there in 1672. Other early settlers included David Allen and his wife Rachelle Hickman Allen, both of whom arrived in 1794. In 1821, the United States acquired what are now Crestwood and University Heights townships from Jackson County for $5 per acre ($25 per mile). From that time until 1838, these townships were known as " Township No. 7" because they lay within seven miles (11 km) of downtown St. Louis. On November 3, 1838, during the Mexican–American War (), General Zachary Taylor ordered all white men over 21 years of age to leave Missouri for Texas or be driven out by force into Mexico; this order caused a mass exodus of both whites and Native Americans from Missouri's Appalachian region. Most of those who remained in Missouri were unable toregister for military service because they did not have enough money to pay for an exemption certificate This forced migration led to the founding of Crestwood as an unincorporated community on December 12th of that year by several local farm families led by Hiram Sibley Thornton II (). The community was named after John Quincy Adams' home state – Massachusetts – because it was one mile (1 km) from where he had been living when he received his commission as a Ulysses S Grant lieutenant colonel in 1864 during the American Civil War (). “Eagerly awaited your arrival with feelings that could not be expressed in words," wrote Mrs., Thornton's wife Maria Clements Ames after her husband's installation as Postmaster-General on January 8th 1865."
Crestwood was founded by the Washburn family in 1825. The town grew rapidly and by 1830 had a population of over 100 people. In 1836, Crestwood became the capital of Missouri.
