The town has experienced many changes over the years; some of which include: a switch from cotton ginning to dry goods production during World War II; additional growth after Interstate 70 opened up in 1956; the advent of satellite TV and internet service during the late 1990s and early 2000s; and most recently, an influx of refugees following natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina andthe Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant accident.
