Gun cleaning history in Crestwood, Missouri began with the guns of General John S. McQuary. He had ownership of a gunsmith shop in the town and he would often bring his firearms to be cleaned and re-purchased. One of the first gunsmiths in Crestwood was James Moodie who worked for Mr. Quary from 1868-1874. In 1875, when General Quary passed away, moodie continued to work at the shop until his death in 1893. It then passed through several hands before it became property of Mrs. Mabel Wolkentin from 1907-1911. From 1911-1920, it was held by Mr. Harry Bendixen until it was sold to Mrs. Lillian Cavanaugh in 1920 which made it her home Gun Shop for many years until its sale again to Mrs. Vicky Smith in 1984 which makes it once again a property within Crestwood proper!

The first school in town was built on the corner of Main and Court Streets in 1870; this building still stands today and serves as both the municipal building and library for Crestwoods community today. The first post office opened in 1872; it later became known as "Crestwick". In 1907, one of America's earliest oil fields erupted from shale formation just outside of crest woodtown limits –ushering development into the area until then little known beyond rural farmers living around it! Today this wellhead remains an important part of local history thanks to its location right off I-44 Exit 227 –one mile south of downtown Crestwood! With increased access to energy resources came increased commercial activity along with new residences being builtalongside industry that soon filled up most remaining open space within downtown boundaries giving rise to much growth throughout those years including annexation by neighboring towns over time resulting in even more retail development nearby while still allowing easy access to services essential to everyday life such as grocery stores etc.–making crest woodtown one big shopping center rather than just another rural village!
