Chesterfield, Missouri is a small town located in Webster County, Missouri. The population was 2,728 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1837 by George Washington Chester and his wife Mary Chesterfield. They named their farm after their home county of Virginia. The first store in Chesterfield was built by John Aiken and opened on Main Street in 1838. A post office called Chesterfield was established in 1839, and remained open until it closed in 1902. The first school in Chesterfield was built on Elm Avenue in 1841. It served as a primary and middle school for students from Kindergarten through Eighth Grade until it closed in 1951. In 1865, the first Methodist Episcopal church was erected on the site of today's library building; this church continues to be used as services are held there today. In 1870, General William Tecumseh Sherman visited the community while he was making his way from Cairo, Illinois to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas during his ill-fated march across Kansas into northern Missouri to take possession of that state's military forces following the Mexican-American War. Sherman stopped at Chesterfield on his way south and ordered provisions for troops stationed there brought back with him to Fort Leavenworth before continuing his journey southward. In 1907, a hydroelectric power plantwas completed near present day Derby Creek Road and Old Highway 66 east of town; this plant supplied electricity to local homes until 1956 when it became part of an electric company which merged withConsolidated Edison Company becoming known as American Electric Power Company (AEP). In 1925 AEP constructed a new dam across Derby Creek providing irrigation water for much of eastern Webster County; this dam remains operational today providing irrigation water for much of central Webster County as well as parts of western Clay County including Clinton Township which is located within AEP's jurisdiction..

Chesterfield is a small town in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,651 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield- Hannibal-Springfield, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Chesterfield was laid out by James H. Talbot in 1839 as a post office and store on the west side of the confluence of the Kedzie and Mississipi Rivers. The first settlers were primarily German Catholics who had come to this area from Illinois in search of land grants and religious liberty after being persecuted there by Protestant denominations. The original name for Chesterfield was "Fenway" because it lay near what is now Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1847, the post office moved to its current location on Main Street when that road was reworked following an earthquake that destroyed much of downtown Springfield. The first building in Chesterfield was a log cabin erected by John Blacksmith about 1840 which served as both a store and theater until burned down in 1848; blacksmiths were then responsible for erecting most of the other buildings around town beginning with what is currently located on Market Street between Main and Center Streets. The first school in Chesterfield opened September 3, 1852 under auspices of Stroudsburg Female Seminary with fifty students; it continued operation until 1865 when it merged into neighboring West Plains School District #1 (later renamed Mayflower Township). A second school opened December 4th 1861 under auspices of Centralia Academy which merged with West Plains School District #1 two years later. An addition to Centralia Academy became Dickinson College Preparatory School which operated from 1870 to 1886 before becoming Dickinson Normal Institute which operated continuously until 1946 before merging into Dickinson University; both institutions are still extant today as constituent parts of Dickinson University’s College Of Arts & Sciences.. In 1861, George Washington Carver founded Carver Beech Grove Creamery Company producing canned goods for local markets; he also built several businesses including an ice cream parlor called Eagles Nest where he sold his products direct to consumers from his carpenter shop located on Court Street between sycamore and maple Streets.. In 1865, Mayflower Township established its own schools district withinwest PBSD #1 after vote by township residents rejecting annexation proposed by Apriltown Township #2 due to enrollment limitations set forth therein (the townships were each limited to 1/3 their original numbers – see map below). Potterville Elementary School opened November 15th 1865 followed by Cheshire High School on January 8th 1870; these three schools became known collectively as "Chesterfield". On February 2nd 1870 General Electric Corporation made an agreement with trustees thereof whereby GE would provide electricity for all public schools within township boundaries - this event marks oneof few times municipal electrification took place throughout America prior to1920 . Today's primary business districts within east PBSD#1 include: East Side Business District ( encompassing Potterville through Cheshire along Sycamore Avenue), South Side Business District ( bounded northward by First Church Road on the east side & southward by I-64), North Side BusinessDistrict ( bounded eastward by State Highway 9 & westward by Elmira Road) while older commercial districts have been absorbed into newer communities adjacent thereto such as Pioneer Heights Shopping Center located just outside eastern border OFEast PSD&SHD#1 while some rural areas remain without municipal electric service including portions of southern St Francois County
